i would have slipped in the Fiji one from the weekend, that was ballsy
points deducted for ball in the wrong hand
basics matter

... and the try scorer was playing with his socks down! How rude!

WORLD RUGBY AWARDS 2021 NOMINEES
World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year (fan vote)
Antoine Dupont (France)
Michael Hooper (Australia)
Maro Itoje (England/British and Irish Lions)
Samu Kerevi (Australia)Uninspiring. DuPont only real standout so should walk this.
Itoje / Hooper both fantastic, but not stand out POTY candidates for me. Kerevi been great, but has he really played enough?
World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year (panel vote)
Will Jordan (New Zealand)
Andrew Kellaway (Australia)
Louis Rees-Zammit (Wales)
Marcus Smith (England)
)Thus is an epic list of players. Worrying (?) that all are backs tho.

Not really. Similar thing to football that try scorers tend to pick up the gongs as their highlight reels are better than rugby forwards/football defenders.

I think Etzebeth is unlucky not to be up for the award this year. I think his (and the Bok pack's) Houdini acts against Oz did for him.

I'd vote for Itoje if he was nominated for over-rated, seagulling, show pony of the year.
Granted he's very good at obstruction and normally does one goodish thing a game that the commentators can lose their load over but I have watched him a lot and he normally spends most of the game jogging aimlessly around as if he'd never played footy before and then either leans on or flops on a ruck.

So…you know nothing about rugby then.

Taranaki should be one of the nominees for the National Team of the Year. Unless NZR is telling us what they think of the Championship.
since when did a 2nd division side win a top prize?
-
@mariner4life They have thrown a bone to a Heartland team.

good point
however you'll forgive me if i shed no tears for Taranaki
-
@stargazer the Heartland try is the best.

Taranaki seems to be recognised via Neil Barnes' nomination for National Coach of the Year.
I hoped see some recognition for Mark Ozich, who has in only a few years built up a team from close to the bottom of the Championship to the top of the Premiership table and a new Ranfurly Shield era. Maybe he would have been nominated if he hadn't accepted the coaching gig at the Force.
-
@taniwharugby I know I'm wearing a black & white eye patch, but Enari's try is the best to me.
-
Duane Monkley Medal:
Lincoln McClutchie (Hawke's Bay))Fucking so looking forward to this guy playing for the canes, such a great thing to have some one playing that consistently well in your franchise region...
Canes coaching team are twats - JGB yay!

IMHO Hooper has been inspirational for the WBs this year. Reckon itoje might get it though, although Dupont has his fans.
I reckon Hooper will have to go very close, but like you agree be between him and Itoje.
Would have to go with Hooper over DuPont. DuPont didn’t play in Oz mid year, Hooper has played just about every minute of almost every test for 2021 at his usual 110% workrate
