Blues vs. Highlanders
-

Wow. The Landers would've won it if Parker had just kicked over what looked like a fairly easy penalty. Still wouldn't have deserved it though, as all they could do for most of the second half was tackle, gift the Blues the ball and infringe.

Good game and good win by the Blues.
-

Happy for Tana,

I think there will be a massive sigh of relief to start his career with a win , given the recent history with the Blues
-

good first outing for Tana's team.

So do the Highlanders get 2 BP for 4 tries and within 7 still?

No, for a bonus point you need to score 3 tries more than the opponent. Or lose by 7 or fewer points.

In theory, a losing team could get two bonus points, if the winner gets its score by kicking penalties.
-

Blues would've won if West didn't miss those 2 penalties from out in front

It was good see the players who dominated in school rugby from not long ago starting to step up.. Goes to show how young this team is..
-

Don't give a fuck about the negatives at the moment lol what a win! Blake Gibson what a star he will be.

Enjoyed that game way more than I expected - thought it would be error-strewn and cagey but both teams looked good and the pace of the game was right up there.

Gibson - what a prospect.

Couldn't agree more, he looked bloody good last year and continues to show promise.
-

What did I miss, I thought the Blues did win...
-

You can fuck your NH porridge...THIS is what we watch rugby for - so many positives, creativity and vision right from the off in the very first game

What an excellent start to the season, bloody excellent, am loving it well worth getting up early for..

Well done Tana's Blues! But What a last minute try, Bender!

Great game to watch, long may it continue..
-

Am keeping a lid on things, but yeah looking an excellent prospect - big boots and jersey to fill
-

Blake Gibson ,im not going to say future Allblack yet because I would like to see more of him first , but that was pretty impressive for a 20 year old in that position

Gibson is definitely a star. Number 6 could be his best position, with Sam Cane about?

Skill level was amazing. Almost no scrums. Great game!

He's definitely got blindside physicality, but I think 7 is his best position. Sort of short for a 6 too.

Now you know why Karpik ran away from Auckland. Lots of Blues fans were crying over not picking up Karpik, but they had no idea how good Gibson was. Gibson has always been rated higher than Karpik but has had less media hype for some reason.
-

Is that true - maybe here on the Fern we know about him due to his uber fan hyping him ;).

TBF, I can't stand Karpik's hair so that might explain why I've always rated Gibson higher ....
-

Exactly and all Blues fans on here know that. Karpik got more attention because of his haircut which made him stand out but I do think that he is a very good player, just never thought he was as good as Gibson.
