2016 World Sevens Series

Good to see sevens has progressed to the point that the top teams will lose if they suffer a YC.

Does anyone know why SBW missed the quater final and play off game again south Africa? Precaution for injury?

Pretty sure it clashed with his preliminary training for the tour de france which he's going to compete in before taking on the winner of Klitchko/Fury and jetting off to win gold with the boys in Rio. Once he's done that he'll start trials for Bathurst straight afterwards if he doesn't secure an IPL contract.
-

Word to this post brother.....
-

I had no idea that the Olympic Sevens format will have 3 groups of 4 teams. If they want to restrict the number of teams to 12 then surely having an even number of groups is logical to avoid some contrived system to find the quarter-finalists. Idiots.

With the World Rugby Sevens Series all but decided, the final round in London will be all about the Olympics this weekend.

When the teams walk off the park for the final time at Twickenham on Sunday evening, the cement on their path to Rio Olympic glory will be setting.

The three Olympic sevens groups are decided based on World Series standings over the past two years.

For New Zealand, who will be third ranked barring a 10-point swing with South Africa in London, their pool will feature a trans- Ta$man battle with fourth-ranked Australia.

Gordon Tietjens' men would also play the ninth and 10th ranked teams, which heading into London are Kenya (141 points) and France (136).

Should either of those sides leap ahead of Samoa in London, it is likely the Pacific nation would fall into New Zealand's pool, creating the toughest group in Rio.

Samoa are yet to qualify for the Olympic sevens tournament, but are favourites to win a last-chance Olympic repechage tournament in Monaco in June.

If the standings stay as they are after London, and Samoa do qualify, the Olympic groups will fall as follows.

Pool A - Fiji, United States, Argentina, Brazil
Pool B - South Africa, United Kingdom, Samoa, Japan
Pool C - New Zealand, Australia, Kenya, France

Fiji sevens squad: Apisai Domolailai, Jasa Veremalua, Waisea Veremula, Isake Katonibau, Viliame Mata, Amenoni Nasilasila, Osea Kolinisau, Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Seremaia Tuwai, Kitone Dawai, Samisoni Viriviri, Jarryd Hayne.

Just a shame that someone no longer prepared to be Fijian enough to represent that country in one sport is quite prepared to don their colours in another.
-

I know names mean jack shit in showing ones heritage but that team sheet reminds me of that song from Seasame Street.

Surely he has at least looked the goods at training? So which players spot did he take? -

Many years ago that song, or at least the one I think you are referring to, got me laid. I and a few other blokes were having a pee at a pub and a chick walks in and pees at the urinal alongside us. I sing "One of these things is not like the others" and before you know it I was back at her place doing the deed on her father's favourite rug in the lounge room. She kept saying "I can't believe you came home with me and we are doing it on dad's rug. All the guys I have met are too scared of my father to have anything to do with me." I still wonder today who her father was.
-

Just on Hayne: http://www.smh.com.au/sport/my-journey-with-the-jarryd-hayne-dream-team-is-over-20160519-gozd52.html

I think we've all learned that in 2016 the idea that any decent 15 a side player can transform to being the same in a 7's team is no longer realistic

With that in mind I hope they play Hayne against NZ

However Rod Kafer made a good point on a TV show in Aus when he wondered if Ben Ryan's ulterior motive for adding Hayne (other than publicity) was to motivate his existing players to pull finger more so they don't lose their place to this...well...dickhead actually (http://www.smh.com.a...519-gozd52.html ).

Think Ryan has enough resources and is too knowledgable to play Hayne in any meaningful role.
-
Hard to see how they need to be motivated more. They've all but sewn up the World Series and have a chance to go to Rio and win gold.

Bringing in Hayne now could have the opposite impact from that intended.

Not sure what disturbs me more about that story ... the fact that you had sex with someone you met at a urinal or that you shared it with us ... -
Toughen up Booboo a lot worse has been shared on here. And despite the fact we met at the urinal she wasn't a horror, which is surprising I know.
