England Red Roses v Black Ferns

FT: England 43 - 12 Black Ferns
Ugly score and lots and lots to work on for the Black Ferns. Set piece, handling errors and tackling the most important problems.
Lots of circumstances in favour of England though (professionals, Premiership, many test matches) v amateurs, disrupted FPC and no test matches for 2 years. The many rookie BFs will learn a lot from this.
Oh the irony

I've just watched the replay. England impressive. I do think they get away with some cynical play at the breakdown.
From NZ's point of view, at least they know where they are at present and what needs to be done in the next 12 months. You can't beat on the job experience for the newbies. The starting hooker has always had problems with lineout throwing. The BFs really needed to up the tempo and move the ball away from the forwards.
I thought Cocksedge played probably her worst game in a long time. Poor options like taking a quick tap with a player in the sinbin and some aimless kicking.

Professionals. They were into the ref a lot.
Watching replay as well, and fuck there is some ordinary refereeing in this game. And the pommy commentators... FMD. Brian Moore is ok on Twitter but has no filter live

My first thought watching the game unfold: any men's Tier 1 nation versus Pacific islands...

Not surprised we were beaten , but the score line is tough one to swallow ..
It emphasised to me why the Womens Super Rugby is an important component to the Black Ferns .
It’s great that Women’s game has grown and it can be seen by the numbers at all levels but I also see a lot of short comings in the game in and around conditioning ,really good kicking games and quality set piece line out play ..Carys Dillinger from the Manawatu Cyclones will be a Black Fern at some stage , Dillinger is one of the few first fives in the FPC that looks truly comfortable and balanced as a pivot and kicks extremely well out of the hand as kicks brilliantly off the tee.

@steven-harris I agree, also about Carys Dallinger. Lots of promise.
It's great that they also have that NZR has organised that Women's development camp. Btw, Dallinger is not on the list of invited players, which suggests to me that she either is too old (?) for that camp or may have been signed by the Black Ferns 7s. She was in the Baby Ferns 7s squad that won the Youth Olympics in 2018, so that wouldn't be a surprise.
What this morning's test also showed is that Renee Wickliffe is passed her best. I'm not writing her off, but to me she was the worst on the field. Hopefully, Woodman will be ready to go next weekend.

@bovidae Yeah, although at her age and players only being part-time (less than semi-)professionals at test level, other life choices may have taken over that don't allow for international rugby, camps etc. Hirini isn't there either.
