@Donsteppa the spinners in particular. With a slower pitch they were absolutely key, and just bolwed rubbish. Didn't put any pressure on Aus at all.

I'd started to wonder lately while Sodhi is never in the conversation for the test side these days, tonight was a reminder of his lack of consistency. Which sometimes works in T20's, but not tonight...

Marsh has been a tin ass in the last 5 overs.
-
With Kane hitting 85 we should have been able to set them 185+
-
Our fielding dropped off a cliff. Multiple boundaries not saved, at least 3 chances dropped/not attempted, and another 3-4 dropping just short of the man, which was horrible luck.

Neesham is clearly our inform batsman so why not put him ahead of Phillips who has been struggling of late? I think that was a big mistake and potentially cost us 10+ runs.

Agree, Phillips needed to hit out much earlier.
Kane and Boult must feel pretty let down by their teammates right now.

So disappointing to see the strengths of the team throughout the tournament fade at just the wrong time.
Honourable mentions to Williamson and Boult for stepping up on the big stage.
Time to start looking for Guptill's replacement. Someone will probably find stats to disprove this, but it increasingly seems like he's regressed to the flat track bully stage since 2019.
For the Australians, Hazlewood more than made up for Starc laying out a five star buffet. Marsh walked out to bat like a man determined to win the game by himself, and that six off the first ball was the start of how he went on.
There was a big lesson for the junior cricketers who were watching this week. Don't punch your bat...

I have to go the other way on that - all throughout the tournament all our bowlers, except Boult, looked vulnerable to go for big runs at all times - even against the associate teams. Sodhi runs a bit hot and cold and played well against India, but it was no given he would show up when needed - and he did not.

He's a curious one. He has plenty of talent, but not enough all round consistency.

This is scarily soon.
That money won't print itself.
Well done Aus, never got under any pressure. @NTA your cricket lads have role reversal compared to the rugby with mental blocks.
Outstanding effort to make teh final, and send home India and England, but just bridge and toss too far.

@NTA will go on about Marsh winning the game for Oz for the rest of the year. It’s sickening how much he loves and rates that guy.
Eat a bag.
Hey come on. Cheer up your team did well.
At least I have the tact not to mention your Rugby team.

Less than a year to bring in Finn Allen for Guptill, Devon not to punch his bat, and pitches where we won't need two spinners.
They have a WC every year???
