Not a great power play but only one wicket down. Williamson looking bogged down though and already showing signs of frustration with that last shot.
I back Kane to read the pitch like he did in the CWC. If he is struggling and seems content to just hang in there then it's probably the right call.
I'm thankful we have a skipper willing to play the long game and who doesn't think the final needs to be won in the first three balls of his innings.
-
Yeah, looks like they're happy to keep wickets in hand and launch a bit later. We will want 160 at least though I would think.
-
Finch has won 18 of last 22 T20 tosses for Australia. With that sort of luck he should be being lotto tickets.

And still not the luckiest Australian skipper currently.
-
Aus well on top after the first quarter

It frees the balance of the order to play their natural game now - you don't have Seifert or Phillips in two minds having to nurse the innings through but also keep the run rate going. We can pretty much go full speed in an over or two.
Aussie should have kept some spin up their sleeves for toward the end.
-
Hazelwood wtf was that hahaha

We've sucked up three overs of Hazelwood and Kane is at the wicket and established. Line ball at the point with 9 wickets in hand IMO.
-
Excellent, we will take as many drop catches as possible from the Aussies
-
Doully reckons 150-160 is very competitive on this wicket
-
Starc losing the plot, amazing from Kane to get that beamer to the fence. Innings finally gets some momentum
-
Guppy falls to Zampa. Spinners may be tough to get away on a slower pitch
-
Kane channels his inner Lance Cairns
-
Kane 51 from 32, cometh the hour
-
114/2 with 5 overs left with two batsman set one being Kane 50+.
Would have taken this after the toss all day and twice on Sunday.
-
Some luck for Kane, but with 8 wickets left we can just fucking go for it now.
What a shot that was, just flicks him for 6 with ease! All hail King Kane
-
Kane is going bananas haha, what a shot
-
Starc brings up his 50 after 3 overs
-
Cummins is key here for Aus
-
Australia on tilt here, on more big over needed.
-
8 from the Cummins over, that'll do.
-
Phillips needs to hit out or get out so we can unleash the Neesh
-
I don't mind that wicket, Phillips was struggling to get it away.
-
Magnificent from Kane
-
Daaammmnn, deserved a ton
-
Hazelwood absolutely superb spell
-
OK Cummins with 1 left then it's either Starc or Marsh. We will want 10 from this then a as many as possible from the last.
-
Huge captains knock from Kane.
Need the Neesh to unleash in these last two overs
-
Neeeesshhhh
-
Wade acting like he was clearly out? Well home. Good over, 13 from Cummins, now let's finish strong fellas
-
Runs on the board.
Was hoping for a final over of pies from Starc to get the total even higher, but 172 is still a good score to defend if we can bowl well at the death.
-
Damm, we had a chance at 180+ but didn't finish as strong as hoped.
Defending totals has been nearly impossible in this tournament to date, but, we've given ourselves a chance.
-
Not a bad total at all.
-
What an innings from Kane, one of the best I've seen in T20s given the circumstances - the pressure of the final and all other batsmen struggling to get it away.
-
Such a dumb move to not promote Neesham ahead of Phillips. He didn't face enough balls.
-
We finish with 29 boundaries. Seems defendable with the long mid wicket at this ground.
-
Wow! One amazing innings and 5 useful support innings from our other batsman. Feeling good. Let's hope our fielding and bowling stay strong as Aussie need to take lots of risks for that total
-
Pommy pundit (ward?) on Kane's innings.
"It wasn't a Butler knock"

He's right, it was a lot better
-
I would have reviewed that lol, though if I had the option I'd review just about everything
Great first over from Boult, a bit of swing
