Largely unchanged from a fortnight ago, despite what I think of Blake, I'm surprised they pushed him to the bench, but good Tua gets a shot...assume Gregory not recovered from his injury.
Faukafa gets another shot at 8, with Manu off the bench, Pryor recovered from his injury.
Despite the Auckland teams not being allowed out of Auckland, the govt allowed our 3 under the 'Julian Savea clause' to leave, welcome return to Hallam-Eames, Tu'ungafasi and Hyland, all straight to the bench.
Gee,if you'd said to Justin Davies at the start of the season he'd start a game for Northland v otago he woulda laughed, and then add in a home game in Rotorua 😅

@taniwharugby any advice on Mason Hohaia ? New name….
-
@kev Kamo hooker, IMO a bit small for hooker, very busy but kamo also struggled at lineout, in part due to not having much tall timber.
I think he did get some small minutes off the bench last year??
Paddy Joe Atkins is someone I am surprised they didn't persevere with at hooker, pretty skilful player for a big fella and the 2 games I saw Wellsford play this year he looked in better shape than previously.
Guess some players also make themselves unavailable too.

@taniwharugby it is pretty hard case about Davies. We're not going to have the most mobile front row this week but the scrum should go well! Probably plenty for Uluilakepa to learn alongside Davies and Wright.
I think it is good they're good they're giving Faukafa another go at 8. Played well there last match.
Good to see Tua back starting - him and Ranger should create good space for each other.
Very good line up, hopefully they play like last game.

@chiefy07 well as you know I'm not a fan of Hawkins (as a player) however my interactions with him off the park, he seems like a top bloke and loves Northland rugby, and I have heard through the tani-grapevine that he stepped up in the changing rooms before the game v Waikato and spoke to the team in regards to Rangers 100th, heard it was pretty inspirational, evidence says so as well.

Poor read and miss by Ranger
-
@taniwharugby shit start. Being taught a lesson.
-
Northland should come out of the changing sheds....
-
Northland look asleep. Terrible first 10 mins.
-
We were abysmal in this fixture last year...

@taniwharugby said in Northland v Otago:
Northland should come out of the changing sheds....
Need some shoulders in some tackles
-
Musta missed half a dozen tackles at least already
-
I hate watching Nock at the back of those rucks
