Hawkes Bay vs Tasman (RS)

@bovidae They're starting with a very big team.
Basically four locks (if you count Frizell, who Foster recently counted as lock cover) and three props (counting Aumua!).
Makalio is a big hooker, Segner is more a 6 than a 7, and Big Leicester on a wing.
Didn't really work against Waikato, which is why I think Nankivell is such an important addition - providing a bit more speed - and a bit more mobility to come off the bench in the second half.
A leaf out of Hansen's book in vs England? What could possibly go wrong!

Just posted on the HBRU Facebook page:
I can see it's a 4:35 kick-off but is that Saturday or Sunday?

@number-10 Don't know about lock - I guess Boswell-Wakefield has been seen enough during club rugby that they don't consider him good enough anymore; my new player comment was more about halfback. I wonder why they haven't gone after Kahn Fotuali'i. Yes, he's old, but he still played premiers club rugby, this year. Must be better than no halfback at all. I also wonder whether Ngarohi McGarvey-Black can play halfback, considering he's a playmaker in sevens. He now plays for Ngati Porou East Coast.
Fotuali'i initially was in Horowhenua Kapiti's squad in July but hasn't been sighted since. Perhaps he's retired, not interested, since he hasn't followed through.
If you have a wish for a sevens player who can cover halfback (McGarvey Black) then you might as well stick with a first five-eighth (McClutchie) who can cover halfback.
I don't think the HB coaches have failed in their duty.

@number-10 I don't know why you're so defensive. You sound like you're employed by the HBRU. It was just a vague idea. Not sure whether you understand the meaning of the word "wonder", but it wasn't criticism and it also wasn't a straighforward proposal to sign anyone.
I have the right to feel frustrated, and so is every Magpies' supporter, by the fact that we have no second halfback (let alone a third). We are allowed to question things. If you don't like that, you're at the wrong place. If Enari goes down, we have no adequate replacement so I'm wondering if there isn't someone out ther who could fill the role and who that might be. I never said the HB coaches failed in their duty. Those are your words, not mine.

Looking forward to this, should be a great match. Good luck to both teams, cant say I am a fan of either team, however at least one is a "bay" and currently "the bay"... and not a hodge podge of surrounding areas so perhaps although it feels dirty, a bit of support to the underdog.

@stargazer E. Enari is not that great as a halfback and if he goes down injured and needs replacing then a makeshift (presumable L. McClutchie) is not going to be that far behind him in performance. At least I hope he is not!
Incidentally Humphrey Shield is on the bench (Trent Hapi is the starter) for the Saracens team that is playing in Porirua tomorrow afternoon. Granddaughter is playing for one of the many Wgtn teams on the No. 2 field up there as well so clearly I will have to give huge amounts of attention to the match being played on the Jerry Collins Field (12.30pm kickoff) if I get up there! Interesting to note Lions squad member Bruce Kauika-Peterson can only make the bench for the home team. -

Think I might have to cheer for the Magpies in this.
Years of whinging about not getting a challenge from those new kids should not go rewarded easily.
Money can't buy happiness but it might buy a shield.Hey, I think he hears you!

They are indeed my words and not yours. I didn’t say you said the HB coaches had failed in their duty either. So that makes two of us who never said you had said the HB coaches had failed in their duty, should we start a club up about it?
