@yeetyaah Have the Canes posted on their social media at which time they'll announce the team? I haven't seen it.

Not NZ-related news but Duane Vermeulen will play for the Bulls in the 2019 Super rugby season. He will obviously be a key player for the Boks next year.

Hurricanes - according to the radio now at 9:30am not 1.30pm as stated in the herald?

No Quinn Tupaea or James Tucker.

Will Ataata Moeakiola be playing the ABs? Not familiar with him.

Lets keep the squad discussion in the individual team threads. It keeps it in one place and makes it easier to read

Some are suggesting that players can't be signed to a SR contract in their first year out of school. That would explain the likes of Tupaea and Flanders missing out, and they would likely be on a development contract.

Caleb Clarke was picked by the Blues but didn't play much.

@bovidae I think they're wrong. Flanders is from the same Hastings BHS 1st XV squad as Folau Fakatava, who's even younger than Flanders, and Fakatava has apparently been signed by the Highlanders.

@stargazer Who knows now. Perhaps selection is on a case by case basis?

Time for someone to do a list of the unlucky XV.

@bovidae Thing is, I'd be reasonably happy if I knew for certain that certain young players had a development contract, but they never publish those lists.

Oh, and look at this post:

@number-10 said in Hurricanes 2019 Discussion:

Devan Flanders told me the three-year contract was : first year as development (covering him in the Under 20's next year) and years two and three are full contracts.

It is eminently possible that others like Kereru-Symes, Fakatava and McClutchie have something similar. From a Hawke's Bay perspective I hope so.

    Olmsted!

He’s not kiwi, but I’m still surprised he didn’t find a home. I’d take him at the Chiefs.

Seriously, Tupou stays at the blues but this guy can’t get a gig? WTF?

Anyway, he’d go in my unlucky 23.

@gt12 The muppet Blues re-signed Tupou before the end of the 2018 Super season. Cos he is Tana's mate from Counties. Absolute joke.

It's surprising they didn't pick him up as it appears its Chiefs policy to pick foreigners (the Crusaders seem to have slowed their similar policy).
