Nope,

we breed props, locks and first fives.

I was worried he may look overseas as I'm sceptical he will make the ABs due to his height and them wanting tall number 6's.

He's becoming my favourite Crusader, shows so much passion for the jersey. Despite the fact he isn't from the region.
-

Many Magpies fans on my Twitter feed are not happy about losing him.

If the Mako$ have done their home work on helping someone with a mental illness (like they seem to have done according to the article on Stuff) & ZG puts his best foot forward, he'll be a great asset for the Mako$. Because his off-field problems have overshadowed and influenced his on-field performance, I'm convinced a lot of people underestimate him as rugby player. When he's in the right head space and gets a bit more confidence, he'll do well.
-

I've never been a fan of him as a player, felt he was over rated, but I hope he has dealt with his off-field issues and can forge a decent career, still only about 27 isn't he?

Young fellas today get everything handed to them on a plate (in going straight form school into earning money playing rugby) it must be very easy to divert off the correct path without decent support.
-
I'm quite chuffed with the quality loose forwards Canterbury produce, we really like Elliot Dixon down here.

His dad died watching him play in the U20 WC final, I wouldn't say he's been handed everything on a plate.

I never thought Guildford was AB quality but I think he's fine at Super level, so I was a bit surprised people were making fun of the Saders last weekend when Guildford was playing well. Hopefully Ta$man can provide the kind of environment that'll help support him.
-

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but mental illness is not something a patient "can deal with" (as in "get over it"). It's something that he will have to live with for the rest of his life, and hopefully, can manage well for the rest of his life. He will slip now and then, and it's important that he continues to get the right support to get him back on the horse when that happens.

The majority of young players, fortunately, won't have to deal with ZG's illness, but there might be some in the future. I hope NZ rugby, franchises & NPC teams are learning because this is not a behavioural issue but a health issue that they shouldn't just leave to a mental skills coach.
-

I think he's good at Super level and excellent at ITM cup level. The joke last weekend was that Guildford never performed for the Saders (due to obvious reasons) and then stuck the boot in by scoring the try that denied the Saders their precious bonus point :)
-

yeah I think you are just being a bit picky over the words dealt with....
-

Ngatai has been ruled out of Friday night's Super Rugby clash with the Waratahs due to his concussion.

If Tamanivalu is also unavailable the only option in the midfield is Horrell-ALB. Beaver onto the bench. I'm not sure they would risk starting Vaka at centre.

-

Sam Whitelock has been ruled out of Saturday night's game v the Blues. So that will be a Romano-Barrett combo.

It will be harder if Codie Taylor is ruled out, too (still uncertain). Ben Funnell is still recovering from a hamstring injury, so that would mean Ged Robinson to start. Who's their 4th hooker?
-

Seemed like you were saying that's what happened to Guildford.

I think the important thing for young guys these days is coming into a good team culture and having good role models within the team. Having guys like Cane and Cruden setting the example for kids like McKenzie and Seu at the Chiefs or Read and Ellis setting the example for kids like Mo'unga and Barrett at the Saders and so on.

I thought he delivered for the Saders at times but Blackadder's weak attack didn't really help him a lot of the time (or many Saders backs). And while I found the twist of fate pretty funny too, I thought I saw someone say that the Saders were making Guildford look good, which is what seemed silly to me.
-
