The Lions have named their team for the 2018 season: http://lionsrugby.co.za/teams.html. It wil be interesting to see how they'll go with a new coaching team and in a competition format that requires them to play more NZ teams.

@southernmann That was already in December, wasn't it? I saw photos of Umaga-Jensen in a hospital bed before Christmas, I think.
The injury has been known for sometime, but I think they have only just named his replacement.

No, Hepetema is already in the squad since December. I remember reading it somewhere, but had to google for the link:

Crusaders squad to take on the Hurricanes in their first pre-season game in Greymouth on Friday:
15 George Bridge, 14 Manasa Mataele, 13 Braydon Ennor, 12 Tim Bateman (captain), 11 Jone Macilai, 10 Mike Delany, 9 Bryn Hall,

About Kieran Read:
Scott Robertson doesn't expect to have Kieran Read back in his playing kit until April 21, but the picture he paints about the All Black captain's recovery from back surgery is hardly full of gloomy colours. In mid-December Read, who turned 32 in November, required an operation on a prolapsed lumbar disc following an injury he suffered on the All Blacks' northern tour late last year; once again Crusaders coach Robertson, as he had to last year when No 8 Read made a delayed return to Super Rugby following wrist surgery, was forced to reassess his back row options. He has a number of candidates to choose from, starting with Pete Samu, who will start at No 8 in the pre-season opener against the Hurricanes in Greymouth on Friday evening, and also Jordan Taufua. Read, though, is the big-ticket item. And when he finally makes his comeback - projected to be the round 10 match against the Sunwolves in Christchurch on April 21 - you can bet the sports bulletins will be leading with this angle.
That game against the Sunwolves could also mark the return of All Blacks props Owen Franks and Joe Moody and fullback/wing Israel Dagg, all who were sidelined with serious injuries last year.

Is the "Richard Judd" listed in the reserves the halfback from BOP ?

@stargazer A Championship level NPC team coached by a couple of one-season NH rejects. Manawatu could deal with them. Will be a sad story if the Waratahs can't win that game.
Even game...

With less than one month until the start of Super Rugby 2018, one thing is for sure - this is going to be the most exciting and effective sports marketing campaign ever. I am so hyped by what hasn't been aired yet.
Combined with the legendary competence of SANZA, the four mid-season AB training camps, and great franchise systems in Sydney and Auckland, the future of TV revenue for this competition has never been brighter.
