I think Ofa should have been cited, too, but luckily he didn't (as far as I know). At this stage of the competition (so close to the Lions tour), you don't want ABs (even the lesser ones) to get bans, because it might affect their eligibility to play for the ABs.
I'd be happy for Ofa to get a ban if we are considering him to play the Lions

I'm still lovin' the fact that 6 of the Brumbies' points are losing BonusPoints.
If anybody can be arsed, a table using current Conference rules but without the BPs?
(I actually agree with the BP system, it's just... another way of putting the boot into the Oz teams, and how shit they are. And SA. And shit - in a system when the local teams play each other more than anybody else, yet a single "conference" is still dominant... WTF?) -
@taniwharugby So, without bonus points, you would still get the same finalists under the current format, but in a different order because the Highlanders have moved up the table.
With bonus points, the QF after this round would be:
Crusaders v Sharks
Lions v Highlanders
Stormers v Chiefs
Brumbies v HurricanesWithout bonus points, the Lions would play the Chiefs and the Stormers would play the Highlanders.

Bloody hell we need Coles to come right for the Lions, all of the other options make me nervous.
-
@taniwharugby Cheers - I was mostly wondering if the table looked any more ridiculous with guaranteed spots for each conference leader - but not really.
With BPs - Brumbies with 23 points sit above Hurricanes with 43
Without BPs - Brumbies with 16 points sit above Hurricanes with 36
And now that I summarise the point I was wondering about to that extent - I realise it was ridiculously easy to do some basic subtraction to figure that out myself. But then, some bastard had "triggered" me into buying a bottle of whisky on Friday, and my vague memory of posting the question could be explained by that. -

I've read a few people surmise that Harris is held in high regard due to his physical qualities being the most comparable to Coles. That may be true, but watching him miss a few tackles this weekend shows there's just no substitute for the speed that Coles has.

Three-week ban for Treeby
Stormers centre Shaun Treeby has been suspended for three weeks after pleading guilty to contravening Law 10.4(e) Dangerous tackling. (...) In his finding, Foul Play Review Committee Chairman Nigel Hampton QC ruled the following: “Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, as well as an explanation from the player and submissions from his legal representative, Thembelani Mayosi, the Foul Play Review Committee upheld the citing under Law 10.4(e).” “With respect to sanction the Foul Play Review Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks. However, taking into account mitigating factors including the Player’s excellent Judicial record over a long professional career and his early guilty plea the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to three weeks.” “The player is therefore suspended for three weeks, up to and including the Saturday 10 June 2017.”

@Stargazer be pretty shit if a team yellow, which contributed to a RC also resulted in a ban.
Good to see some good sense...

Chiefs midfielder Charlie Ngatai is again symptom free from concussion but is unlikely to play against the Blues at Eden Park on Friday.
Rennie also said that former All Blacks first-five Donald, who replaced McNicol in the midfield at Suva's ANZ Stadium, was unlikely to play against the Blues.

Would love to hear from Paddy how two of his refs stopped the game reviewed the video, had an unconscious player on the ground in front of them and still missed a 'mid entry point' Red Card. Baffling.
Why on earth do they persist with using Veldsman and Ayoub, two on the shittest on field refs ever at pro level, to continue their poor decision making and prove over and over just how bad their judgement is from the TMO box?

I don't like to criticise referees for making mistakes at full speed but in this case the TMO/referee had multiple views at slow speed to make his decision. There's no excuse for not giving a card for that Treeby incident. I haven't actually seen the decision making process, but it's clear from the outcome that there was a breakdown in the process.
It looked like the Blues might also have avoided a card for the Ofa tackle.
The last try looked horrendous as well. Not just a holding on/"double movement" against the ball carrier, but the try scorer had both knees on the ground when he picked it up.
I really think there should be consequences for these cock ups.

I think there are, we just never get to hear about them because they are viewed as an employment matter rather than being a transparent process.
We all understand that mistakes get made and people have horror days (players and refs) but I can never understand why they seem to think that keeping quiet does anything except erode confidence.
The best on field refs are often the ones who are open about their decisions and errors rather than being belligerent. Same should be the case off field.
