Now that the order of play (ie. NZ bat some time tomorrow) is pretty much assured, Lyon may really come into play just before each innings break. Three wickets in the first innings, admittedly the tail, but then he didn't get much of a crack at the top 6.

Nicely put NQ.

I didn't say there weren't other factors in us getting hammered. Merely that the decision had changed the course of the game. Who knows what might have happened if the shit decision hadn't been made? Aus might well have made 600 anyway, but it has made it hard watching a guy bat all day when he was out for 7 the day before. That doesn't imply that Aus don't deserve to be in a match winning position, simply that the umpire had a say in how they got there. NZ playing poorly as well is beside the point.

Worst part about cricket when its going against you ?

Yeah, my comments were tounge in cheek. It's an annoying decision because it's an easy one for the umpire to check, but obviously not the winning or losing of the game.

Try and see it from our perspective. It's like the Wallabies have fought their way back into a test after a poor start. They score a crucial try to even things up but the ref makes a howler and calls no try, then the All Blacks run away with it. You think, we didn't lose because of the decision, but for fuck sakes it's already hard enough to beat these fluffybunnys without that bullshit going against you.

:)

I think thats it in a nutshell , for the Black caps to win , they need things to run their way ,

Throw in the crucial toss of the coin with that crucial call , and they are pushing shit uphill from the start ,

The Aussies like the ABs are more capable of recovering , even when that kind of stuff goes against them

As pissed off as I am about the no ball call I'm not taking this as a match changer. Unlike the Llong-Lyon fiasco which I'm convinced cost us the test.

This one was a poor decision but shit you get those. We seem to get a lot against Aussie though 😞

dont worry, this lot have staying power in spades, but they'll be trying to get 850 runs in 2 days to get the Aussies to bat again...

Voges-Illingworth made a double and Anderson with a no ball on his 6th ball gives him a C & B on his 7th ball, Aus 9 down

Great double hundy from Voges.

Kinda reminds me of Mike Hussey and Jimmy Adams who both started their test careers with freakish averages that dipped ( although neither this freakish ). WIth Voges when the inevitable form slump occurs they may look at his age and drop him but his test career could still end with an average around 75 or so.

If only we made another 400 - 450, we would have been right in this test.

Right, someone remind these top order blokes that it's not a T20 innings that they're batting in.

The whites should have been a give away, but apparently not on Friday.

We've seen this group of players fight tooth and nail from this sort of situation in the past couple of years. I expect them to do the same today.

Don't want to put the jinx on but Latham has been very impressive today. He got out defending one he didn't need to play at in the first innings, so Hazlewood has put the ball in the same channel relentlessly today and he has left pretty much all of them, nulifying Hazlewoods threat. Exactly what I want to see from our openers.

In saying that.... I'm not too fussed about Guptill's dismissal, he's a confidence player so needs to play his shots. I think the way he played should probably be the blue print for him moving forward.
