How come this shit wasn’t organised before granting hosting rights?
Let’s be smart about this

To be fair there are a lot of stadia in the US with great capacity. Lots of universities have comparable stadia than many of world rugby's biggest. But I agree that in terms of prestige for a world tournament, they want to be using the best. A quick search suggests that the average capacity for an NFL stadium is 75000. Even the LA collisseum can seat 78K. Would they fill that for every game?

These are the 25 prospective host cities:
Atlanta; Austin; Baltimore; Birmingham; Boston; Charlotte; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Glendale; Houston; Kansas City; Los Angeles; Minneapolis; Nashville; New York/New Jersey; Orlando; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; San Diego; San Francisco Bay Area; Seattle; Washington, D.C.
To attract overseas fans they will need to concentrate each pool in certain parts of the country, otherwise expect to be taking a lot of plane trips.

Just like football World cups. One base city per group and all satellite venues need to be close by, say no more than 1 hour away

@MiketheSnow What shit? Stadiums? There's a range of hosting cities that have put their hand up with great stadiums.
WORLD-CLASS STADIUMS AND CITIES READY TO HOST
With metropolitan areas from coast to coast ready to welcome global rugby fans, NFL-caliber stadiums around the country interested in hosting Rugby World Cup games and an incredible national infrastructure for coordinating large-scale events, the United States is extremely prepared and well-suited to unite fans old and new through rugby.
The following cities have shown interest in and are currently being considered for participation in the United States’ bid for upcoming Rugby World Cups: Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Baltimore; Birmingham, Ala.; Boston; Charlotte, N.C.; Chicago; Cincinnati; Dallas; Denver; Houston; Indianapolis; Kansas City, Mo.; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Miami; Minneapolis; Nashville, Tenn.; New Orleans; New York/New Jersey; Orlando, Fla.; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Pittsburgh; San Diego; San Francisco Bay Area; Seattle; Vancouver, B.C. and Washington, D.C.
The bid includes some of the most state-of-art, massive, technologically advanced and luxurious sporting venues in the world – from iconic venues like the Rose Bowl to recent Super Bowl host venues like Hard Rock Stadium in Miami and Levi’s Stadium in the Bay Area. A projected 3.1 million fans could attend Men’s Rugby World Cup events in the U.S. across 48 matches.
Picture from https://usabid.rugby/Geez, they'd have 9 years to build stadiums if that's what they wanted to.

I think they have more than enough...
How many groups are there?
I think groups centred around Seattle (Can throw Vancouver a bone too), SF for starters would be good. I am not familiar with the main US bases for rugby but they have plenty of choice

I think his point is they are great NFL stadia, but not great for rugby. NFL tend to be skinnier - will limit space I expect.
Will be interested to see where it goes, as I'd love to go and do some of the trip over there. Honestly, I've found the pool stages more fun at times, as it's just a bunch of rugby loving folk out on the lash. Great times, and less anxiety than the risk of yet another QF SF loss. Yes, I'm bracing myself.

If they cant make the ground full size I would prefer to avoid NFL stadia. The game at Soldier field made expansive rugby very difficult

The fact that they’re looking to host the WC earlier than normal, pushing it to the Summer months not early Autumn.
Good luck if you’re based south of the Mason Dixon Line.
In fact, everywhere but the West Coast will be unbearable in August.

I look at this field and think it would be pushing to safely add 20m to the width.

Tottenham hotspur stadium is built to play NFL and football. I think the width is there if you widen the sidelines, because NFL have so many personnel on the sidelines

Any rectangular football stadium can accommodate NFL because NFL fields are smaller. A rugby field in a dedicated NFL stadium is ~50% as wide again. Which I suspect would have very little space between the immovable and the sideline.

Yeah. Not ideal. Will they try to use football stadiums instead?

The USA venues have been selected for the 2026 FIFA WC. I am assuming many of these stadia will also be favoured for the rugby, but only 5 of the 11 stadiums have grass. No idea about the field dimensions.
New York/New Jersey (MetLife Stadium) - FieldTurf
Los Angeles (SoFi Stadium) - Matrix Turf
Dallas (AT&T Stadium) - Matrix Turf
San Francisco Bay Area (Levi's Stadium) - Bermuda Grass
Miami (Hard Rock Stadium) - Bermuda grass
Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz Stadium) - Bermuda grass
Seattle (Lumen Field) - FieldTurf
Houston (NRG Stadium) - Matrix Turf
Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field) - Bermuda Grass
Kansas City, Missouri (Arrowhead Stadium) - Bermuda Grass
Boston (Gillette Stadium) - FieldTurf
