@stargazer NPC level would be on par - at best - with a SR pre-season game, so I don't see the need to delay re-starting to play a bloody warm-up game.
It's only pre-season training, not even a pre-season games this side of Christmas

Pretty much what I hoped Lancaster would say. And no mention of those powder-puff pansies needing a week or two of warm-up games before resuming which is great.
I'd not like to see a competition without the Auckland region sides. How we could crown a winner with any genuine conviction without Northland competing would beggar belief.

So the taniwha back office started a challenge, here is the BOP entry.. not a bad team. Happy to have a very active social media team this year at least.

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) is working with its Provincial Unions to determine how to safely re-start and complete the Bunnings Warehouse NPC, Farah Palmer Cup and Heartland Championship seasons as the country progresses through COVID-19 Alert Levels.
NZR’s three domestic competitions, as well as community rugby, will remain on hold until some, or all, of the country has moved down to Alert Level 2, at which point teams will be able to safely train and play matches.“We can’t predict when Alert Levels will change, but we are preparing ourselves for the potential that we could be in a position to safely play rugby in some areas but not others at some stage. If that’s the case, we will push on with the rugby we are able to play.
“We have some wriggle room later in the year to play Bunnings NPC, FPC and Heartland Championship matches, and we can push into November in order to complete the competitions.”
As expected:Lancaster cautioned a return to play would not happen instantly under Alert Level 2.
“Player welfare is paramount, and our teams will need an adequate lead in time to prepare physically before taking the field, so we will build that into our protocols.”
Provincial Rugby has so far been on hold for two weeks due to Alert Level 4 restrictions across the country. The Bunnings Warehouse NPC and FPC have 10 and 4 rounds of the competition left, respectively. Bunnings Warehouse Heartland Championship will kick off the competition at round 1.

Interesting talking to a coach who is involved in North Harbour rugby yesterday about what players were doing in and around fitness during the lockdown.
Each player before lockdown was given a GPS tracker which has several measureables which track an individuals training regime .
Apparently its become quite competitive with all the players in the squad which is great to hear .
He also confirmed , that if we go back to level 2 , there will be a weeks grace so teams can get a weeks training in and straight back into Round 3.. -

If everyone apart from Auckland goes to level 2 on Wednesday, Northland are planning on this
Semco Northland FPC Kauri commence with semi-final 2nd October - there is also the potential that this could come forward a week subject to an offer from a couple of PU’s in the Championship to forego their quarter-finals. The other impact to be aware of is that Black Ferns named to travel to the UK will not be available after the 02/10. We are awaiting confirmation from NZR if this will happen, but as it stands today we are preparing for a home semi-final 02/10 – currently Hawkes Bay.
Semco Northland NPC Taniwha will commence with the continuation of round 7 at home against Ta$man on Saturday 18th September at 2.05pm. The season would conclude on the 27th November
Other key considerations for Northland – Travel, as taken from the Govts COVID website, and confirmed by NZ Rugby, teams will be fine to travel directly through Auckland by bus without stopping on their way to/from games. Likewise if we need to transfer via Auckland airport to/from games. Northland is not landlocked.

I have minimal sympathy. They've had ample time to train albeit without contact over the last few weeks so fitness shouldn't be an issue and as for taking contact it's not like jumping straight into SR. However, let's say we find out this arvo that the bulk of NZ will be at L2 from Wednesday, I wouldn't expect any games until the following weekend anyway as I'm sure there is a bit to organise which allows plenty of time for prep inc contact training.

The draw would need a re-do and I would be pretty sure they have a draft one sorted on this possibility. Remember that flight schedules wont necessary be up and running straight away so my start point would be to work on derbies and coach travel games as much as possible for the first few weeks.
Big question is how Auckland and NH catch up to everyone else. -
