I don't know how I can work tomorrow at L3 without adequate mental prep and lead in time. I might need a week to ease into it.

    FFS

I know. The perils of working in a non contact job are endless.

As opposed to getting paid to play a game (many very handsomely) and having anything from 2-4 months off every year. My heart goes out to them.

    You know better than this.

It would be just asking for injuries to let them play without any training for several weeks.

I have minimal sympathy. They've had ample time to train albeit without contact over the last few weeks so fitness shouldn't be an issue and as for taking contact it's not like jumping straight into SR. However, let's say we find out this arvo that the bulk of NZ will be at L2 from Wednesday, I wouldn't expect any games until the following weekend anyway as I'm sure there is a bit to organise which allows plenty of time for prep inc contact training.

The draw would need a re-do and I would be pretty sure they have a draft one sorted on this possibility. Remember that flight schedules wont necessary be up and running straight away so my start point would be to work on derbies and coach travel games as much as possible for the first few weeks.
Big question is how Auckland and NH catch up to everyone else.

Yep. That's a lot of catchup games but I guess they can get the others out of the way first

I think those guys (and Counties) are done for the season.

Level 2 in Auckland seems unlikely to happen until there's been a fortnight of zero community cases - and that is some way off yet, I think.

Maybe they can revise a draw with level 2 teams and make space for games against the Auckland region teams towards the end. The Auckland Region teams could always play a round robin tournament amongst themselves once at level 2. If the Level 2 provinces start playing and the Auckland teams are unable to join you can't really call the winners official champions. Call it an alternative name. No Promotion-relegation either.

do they need catch up games?

I mean it will always be a seaosn with an * assigned to it anyway, maybe a team doesnt need to be promoted/demoted.

Just work off the existing fixtures, putting Auckland/NH/Counties opposition against one another (obviously 1 bye) until they can rejoin and just accept that things are fucked and to be grateful we get any games??

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) has confirmed the Bunnings Warehouse NPC, Farah Palmer Cup (FPC) and Heartland Championship, outside of Auckland, will recommence from Friday 17 September.

Really missed watching the rugby. Glad it will resume in 10 days. Hopefully, the 3 remaining provinces will join the rest soon!

So we resume 17/09 after losing, what, five rounds? The announcement doesn't say if they're just extending the season by five weeks or if the L2 teams will play midweek games to make up time, but if the latter is true and the comp finishes when it was supposed to or close to it, then there probably isn't time for the Auckland based sides to rejoin and play catch up games. So hopefully they just extend by five weeks and in, say, three weeks the Super City teams can rejoin and play three midweek games.

I'm surprised that they hadn't already sat down and had a plan for 'what happens if L2 on Weds, complete with fixture list for immediate release. It's not like they haven't had the time to do some pre-planning!

Oh, hang on, NZR current regime. Not surprised.

NZR might seek permission to move the 3 Auckland teams.

    Also:

There was not yet a cut-off when the Auckland teams needed to be back, but NZR is hopeful they will return by October 1, and no later than October 8 to avoid major disruption.
The revised Heartland Championship draw is expected to be released later this week, while the tweaked FPC and NPC schedules aren’t likely to land until next week.

@machpants Geez, mate don't be so negative again. Anticipation is difficult in these times. And they have to adjust the draw for 3 competitions.

And don't think for a minute that Robinson and co are involved in this work. Too low level.

@bovidae given they have all been isolated, get them tested and negative result tomorrow and again next Thursday let them leave.

I think just play what they can, hopefully as many rounds as possible.

@Stargazer do you know if there were judiciary hearings leading into lockdown?

I haven't seen anything on Isi Manu for his RC v 'naki, I assume 3 weeks but not seen...

Given we are restarting at week 7, does that mean he served his time 😛

If it's your full time job then it really wouldn't be that hard to keep a rolling set of draws depending on various resumption dates.

Our local Currie Cup had more obsticals then just Covid to deal with. We had canceled matches due to the roots and to accommodate the Lions tour matches. In the end some teams played 12 matches and others 8. They should put down Covid regulations and protocols. If the teams have to pull out matches because of this, the other team should het the log points. Us supporters were just happy to get matches to watch on TV.
