Northland v Taranaki

Loosie balance not quite right, guess gone for size to combat 'nakis big pack. Hopefully they might push Hallam-Eames to 6 at some point too, could be an extra loosie option.
Would liked to have seen Noah Cooper at 15, hyland at 14, guessing they dont rate Rayasi enough to displace Leilua.
Great to see Ross Wright and Sam Caird back too, bench looks better this week.
-
@taniwharugby looks a better side, but effort and execution will have to be their. Hope they can put it all together.

@taniwharugby another pumping for the 2021 toothless Tanis you reckon bro?
We’ve had the wood on these guys recently, two of the last three IIRC. I live in hope.
Hope is a permanent state of mind for any long term Northland supporter. We find out if last weeks game was an indicator of the rest of the season or if there is some backbone to this years team.
-
@taniwharugby lack of gas is an issue.
-
@kev Fritz Rayasi after he played against Ngati Porou East Coast and it was fair to say he played well was bought into the NPC group for the game against North Harbour in Kaitaia which should have been a penny drop that if there were injuries he was likely first cab of the rack but since then has gone gone AWOL from Northland B trainings which unfortunately was one of his traits when in Wellington..disappearing when it mattered most
Brody Lam is the next cab in line and Trent Renata Roberts will be joining the B squad shortly after a stint in the MRL . -
@steven-harris doh, well that sucks.
Brody Lam is another who has something about him, don't think Kamo got the best out of him, probably not as quick as Rayasi or as big, but is still a solid unit with pace.
I'd like Aseri to get a shot though, that guy has gas and def has something special about him, reminds me of Fero.
-
@taniwharugby Aseri has visa issues which is a real shame .
-
@steven-harris surely they can sort something out, say he is playing for the love of the game until his visa is sorted, then pay him haha
-
I'm not worried about our pace. I reckon we're pretty good there - Nock is quick for a 9, Macilai has plenty of speed, Gregory and Tua are a quick midfield combo and Leilua is no slouch.
We need our pack to front up this week. They got blown away last week. We need to muscle up at the breakdown and make our tackles.

Good point. When you are going backwards, not winning breakdown or contact, it just starts to look like tackling practice. We weren’t very good at that either.

You are not allowed to play as an amateur in the NPC. My whangai was in a similar situation. He had a sort of visa but one that did not allow him to work but had a work permit application (or might have been a Pathway to Residence application, his partner is a NZ citizen) in with the Immigration people. Played one NPC game but the IRD shoulder tapped the Union he was playing for and he was sat on the sideline from that point on until the Immigration Service had processed and approved his work permit.

Trent Renata Roberts
Do you mean Renata Roberts-Te Nana?
He was pretty handy in those few games he got 2 or 3 years ago.

@dan54 no problem, hopefully a few More Naki supporters will comment ,the Naki forum always seems a bit dormant..lights always on but you never see anyone
Mate as I said I just moved here from Aus, but don't worry about our forum seemingly dormant, we leave lights on to welcome people, but actually sitting below the level of windows to see if we should stick heads up

Looking like conditions will be excellent, warm late winter / early spring type day with light winds...just need some good rugby!
