The NRL Season of 2016

Should have won that game but again dum-dum plays cost us again for the billionth time.

Some thoughts:

- Warriors are the master of the dum-dum plays. Shaun Johnson offloading on his goal line, Isaac Luke shoving a Penrith player over after Tevaga made a good tackle.... just dum-dum plays.

- Shaun Johnson was a dum-dum when it came to kicking with the gale force at his back. Sheesh.

- Solomone Kata has proven me wrong. Well, not on the passing thing....I'm still right about that. But he has been in fine form for a few weeks now. His try was similar to a Barry Sanders touchdown run. Awesome stuff.

- Blake Ayshford too. Solid defender and is scoring good tries (5 for the season). Konrad Hurrell is just not good enough to replace either right now.

- Tui Lolohea was not 100% percent tonight so what was the point in playing him? And what was the point of Matt Allwood on the bench when the team needed another big body against the big Penrith pack?

- Jazz Tevaga is the type of player the Warriors need. Heart, mongrel and fitness freak all in one. His ability to cover hooker/backrow is important to the team.

- Bryce Cartwright and Isaah Yeo are my bolters for the NSW Origin side. Get em in there.
-

Newcastle are soooo bad that they made their one good player cry....

Broncos v Cowboys is the best show in town. Quality rugby league

Warriors V Raiders in the dirty old Naki.

It traditionally is the other way round....time to accept this is yet another mediocre season by the Warriors. McFadden will be gone, that is now a lock, and so will the rest of the coaching staff. Veteran players need to be reviewed and maybe traded out too. Not asking for a full blow up on the squad, just a partial blow up and hiring of a real NRL coach.

0-20 to Ricky's Raiders..... FML.

That time was at least a month ago Sneak although I do admire your steadfast optimism in the Warriors.

I actively hope good young and old Kiwi players go to other clubs than the Warriors.
-

Now Cappy is planning to drop Ben Matulino, Shaun Johnson, Blake Asyhford (but still no Konrad), and Jacob Lillyman for the next game against the Broncos at Mt Smart. This is turning into a Bluey moment.

-

Was flicking between the Chiefs game and the Warriors. When I saw the 20-0 scoreline I just thought FFS. At least when they scored that try it wasn't a zip annihilation, but they are a fucking sick team. Is it players? Is it McFadden? Both?

Maybe they need to can the senior team and just put out the reserves every week. Couldn't do much worse.
-
There are basically 3 areas of staff in a pro sports club - players, coaches and admin.

We've tried replacing coaches, and it didn't work. We've replaced the CEO with one of the top talents available in the NRL in Doyle, and it's not working either. Time to seriously look at the player roster, because changing the other two hasn't helped.

Someone on talkback made the point that the U20s are NZers only, which means they don't get experience of working with Aussies, so are unprepared at top level. Also said that they select and coach based on being bigger, stronger, faster, which also makes them struggle in first grade as that doesn't hold any more. -

bloody Titans ruined leg 8 of a 9 leg multi for me on the weekend, with leg 9 being good too :ireful:

That happened last year - we got a spine remember? One is the same as he always is, one has been reduced to a plodder and the other one forgot how to tackle. They've been Warriorized.

I think the second point is a red hearing at best and bollocks at worst. We dominate rugby at all levels without the experience of working with Aussies. I've watched some schoolboy league games over here in Sydney and the Poly kids dominate through share size just like they do in NZ.
-

Well I went to this game in New Plymouth. Not much of a league fan but figured I'd never been to a game so for $20 it would be well worth it. Significantly less crowd dickheads at this fixture than at the Chiefs vs Sharks game which I have to say was pretty surprising considering the dross the Warriors served up. The seemed really in the game for the first 20 mins or so but then the wind picked up and it started raining and that was the end of that. I had a glimmer of hope that in the 2nd half they might come out strong with the wind behind them..but the wind died down and rain appeared to stop right after the break so that didn't eventuate. Ended up leaving 10 minutes early so we could get home be warm and watch some of the Parker undercard fights. Quite a few left with us. Crowd wasn't as angry as I thought, more just completely over it. Not good signs for the club.
