The Highlanders face a loss of up to $2 million this season.
Chief executive Roger Clark was not available for an interview earlier this week, but in an emailed response he outlined how dire the financial situation has become as the franchise copes with a third season disrupted by Covid-19.
He confirmed the Highlanders' expected loss was in line with the other four New Zealand teams of between $500,000 and $2 million.
While that is a wide range, the Highlanders' accounts are a closed book and his admission does offer a peek into the tight spot they find themselves.
So how bad is it?
"We won't know exactly until the season has run its course. However, current projections are looking at a loss of between $500,000 and $2 million," Clark said.
It is not financially ruinous, but "our reserves will take a hit and that impacts future plans".
Covid-19 deaths/million:
Australia - 219.
New Zealand - 28.That stat reinforces how badly NZR has done managing covid, given how relatively little virus there is in NZ.
I honestly don't know what you are trying to say/show with this statistic.

It's been the inability to train and have spectators that is killing them

????
Cases per million peaked about the same. A stat about deaths is an indicator of how a business that doesn't make the rules has done? Really?
That logic is about as good as a White Ferns lower order bat. -

That logic is about as good as a Black Ferns lower order bat.It is very weird as it appear to be, as @Dan54 points out, taken from a shitfight on PR between @Cantab79 (AC) and Muttonbird (I don't know if he posts here), where they just seem to be throwing stuff at the wall.

apparently its the Heritage round....we getting special jerseys or anything? or is it just going to be a bit half arsed?
-
@kiwiwomble MP have a heritage jersey:
Edit: it looks like they're the only franchise in NZ, at the moment, with a special jersey..

that's quite ridiculous

so, as they dont have club heritage they're drawing on the tongan and samoan heritage, dont hate it
-
@kiwiwomble Brumbies are selling their 1996 jersey - hopefully they wear it too.
-
@kiwimurph very much doubt they're going to wear that unfortunately, different manufacturer and sponsor
-
@kiwiwomble Good point.
I guess in the Brumbies case their current home jersey is basically that exact pattern (minus the old school collar).
I could see the Blues simply wearing their away jersey which has a design which inspired by their 97 - 99 jerseys but hopefully the teams go to more effort than that.

This round? I would have thought that the Super Round in Melbourne would be where you do something like this.

i do like the fact the brumbies have a design that they just stick too, like the AFL "jersey's" basically dont change each year and have pattern to avoid clashes

one of the guys at rugby has a remake of that jersey, some internet site, its actually really good quality and it looks pretty good with a more modern (less baggy) cut
-
@stargazer blues is a vintage one and the brumbies one is a retro one theyre selling on the store
neither will be worn for the round as they have old sponsors/manufacturers
if we did get one it would be like the chiefs did a couple of years back, old design with current sponsors and adidas
-
@kiwiwomble To me that Chiefs jersey is a retro jersey (modernised version of the old/vintage jersey). Heritage IMO refers to the heritage of the players or the club. Ancestry. Cultural patterns. IMO the current Chiefs jerseys is more a heritage jersey that that retro jersey (which I like more than the current one).
-
@stargazer im just basing it off what comps like NRL and AFL have done, where heritage if often means the heritage or history of the club
NRL Heritage Round - It is an opportunity for clubs and fans to reflect on their heritage and past glories. As such Jerseys similar to a club's original strip, or strip worn at a particular match or final are a way to reignite rivalries and past glories.
