Sheesh, in that case I have a follow up to my previous post so that this dodgy info doesn't spread unchecked. Fully half of the players the Chiefs "poached" were in fact poached by the Crusaders - McKenzie, Bird, SBW and Laulala.
That’s is shocking by the Chiefs, much much worse than the Crusaders ,that’s a double poach shameful by the Chiefs.

yeah, i was always raised with south of the Waitaki is Otago/north otago including Kurow, even if not offical

It was the Waitaki Region (south of the river) that was cut if half with the western end going to Canterbury after the hydro schemes were put in so all the generation on that scheme was in one region (some bureaucratic governance reason). Kurow/Duntroon etc all ended up caught by the evil empire.
The river itself was the historic border (with a long dispute as to what constituted the upper reaches (west of Benmore). I guess that once you build stuff in the middle of the river you have to decide where it belongs
