RWC 2027 in Australia

Would be good to see every other world cup going to a developing rugby nation - Argentina, USA, Japan, etc.
Totally agree. Think a US-hosted RWC would be awesome.
I also didn't even make an 'Australia' joke about rugby nations. @NTA respect?

yeah, but how damn good would a US based tournament be?
the only downside is distance - it'd be like having a games in Iraq and Ireland as part of a tournament
Australia similar for distance BUT only really Perth is taking the piss on that front.
TBH it would be great to go and see, but it is a bit more expensive to get to than a RWC here.
Hopefully the USA can pick themselves up and qualify for RWC2023 in the meantime.

USA would be great but personally I would prefer it go to Argentina who would also do an awesome job as hosts and are a genuine rugby nation. When I was in BA the day of a test the locals all knew what was going on - even if it is a football mad nation.
States - yeah / nah. Think rugby in Argentina deserves a boost and undoubtedly it would get one from hosting. In the US it's a very fringe sport. Like underwater hockey here

Resurrecting this
Looks like USA are going to bid.

@booboo yeah, but the population live in a corridor on the east coast. Aside from deepest darkest Perth, of course. So for a fan it's short travelling distances
I do understand that, I live here, but even so they not exactly "short distances" in Aus.
(9 hours drive (give or take) between Syd and both Melb and Brisbane for example.)
Will be similar set up in the States prolly with most games in the East, a few in the mid-west and a couple in Californiyay.
Was mainly interested in the size comparison.

Well I guess if you like nice reds, beef, beef and more beef, mountain ranges, glaciers, and beautiful women, Argentina might be ok but Georgia has homemade mountain beer, honey beer, cheap beer, and they like tackling. Oh, and rugby is actually growing quite well there. And they're the oldest wine producers in the world (well, that could be misinterpreted):
And, did I mention their beer?
-
Georgia is awesome, and the wines are brilliant. Somewhat dodgy at times though.

as long as they don't have food suppliers called Suzie..
I think safety might be changing? Of course someone might have slipped the survey people something...https://agenda.ge/en/news/2017/1275
I'm biased to S America or Georgia,as I have not been to Argentina or Georgia, but I think either would be great. I'd also consider supporting the RWC if it went to Italy, I'd just have to watch my waistline..

So World Rugby has announced that Australia has been awarded 'preferred bidder' status for the 2027 World Cup.
This means that we've got it pretty much in the bag, barring an unforeseen disaster.
Great news for Aussie Rugby. For all their faults, Rugby Australia have hit this one out of the park... so far. They may not be that good at running the game in Australia, but when it comes to dick swinging with World Rugby suits they've still got it baby!

Just like South Africa for 2023, preferred bidders are shoe ins!
