England are batting
Hereās our teamā¦.. New Zealand: 1 Tom Latham (captain), 2 Devon Conway, 3 Will Young, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Henry Nicholls, 6 Tom Blundell (wk), 7 Daryl Mitchell, 8 Neil Wagner, 9 Matt Henry, 10 Ajaz Patel, 11 Trent Boult
No Jamieson or Southee winds me up considerably. I donāt think we have THAT much depth to change the team this much.
That is a pretty weak bowling attack
I wouldnāt quite go that farā¦ā¦ādepletedā is a better word.

@mn5 yes, that's why he's second string...do try to keep up mateš
Yeah sorry, I just saw who was missing and started frothing at the mouth a bit to be fair.
I switched over and saw who was in ...
... and lost the plot.
Relieved Boulty is playing at least.

@booboo bedtime mate?š quick snooze?
Off to bed (as soon as Ms Boo Jr gets home from work).

Ok. So changes.
Not so bad given Kane & BJ are out.
And don't mind Ajaz over Satnav, nor Cueball Jr over CDGH.
But lack of both Timmah and Kylo is questionable.
For the WTC one of Cueball or Ajaz misses out.

This may be a pretty long day at the office. Pitch doesn't look like it's offering much.
-
@no-quarter yeah, tough on the ball too. One for wags?
-
I'd say these selections were planned well in advance. Get some game time in the first test, then rest up and be raring to go in the final with a bit of (but not too much) cricket under the belt leading into it.
Tests are bloody arduous, they wouldn't want to risk the top players more than they need to. Ideally Boulty would have played the first test and rested for this but was unavailable.

Jeepers, Henry averaging 51.68 with the ball in Tests.
It's a little surprising that he hasn't done better in tests, he certainly has the ability to bowl wicket balls. At the start of his career I thought I'd go better in the longer form but it's been the exact opposite.

On the one hand, Henry has had a tough go because he's only ever really got random one off tests when someone has been injured and by bad luck more than normal have been in in favourable conditions.
On the other hand, he's never performed well enough in those random opportunities to stake a claim (compare him to Jamieson), and very few new players will be gifted an extended run in the team.
