Cricket 2021: NZ in England and WTC Final
-
We have never won at Edgbaston apparently. I'd rather we go out in style than with a whimper
-
Latham has got his 4000th Test run.
-
21 to get. Young takes one in the cods
-
"Here's Tobias: "Really wouldn't want to be Gary Stead right now. The selection dilemmas for New Zealand ahead of the WTC final are enormous. This strength of depth is definitely a good problem to have especially given how well Young, Henry and Patel have preformed in this match. I'd almost back a side that will have Jamieson at No. 7, Wagner at 8, Southee at 9, Patel at 10 and Boult at 11. A real shame for Henry because I'm sure he won't get picked." Think I'd prefer to be Stead than Chris Silverwood, though"
From Cricinfo's commentary, can't argue with that last sentence...
-
Broad has it moving big time
-
@no-quarter The Aegeas Bowl in Southampton has a hotel in the ground and can be turned into a self-contained COVID-bubble. Lords doesn't have a hotel and is surrounded by a busyish residential area. Totally understandable move given the COVID situation in the UK and in India.
-
Latham barely moves driving down the ground and it's 17 to win
-
@canefan just hoping our guys can get some similar movement when we are playing India.

I have to think we have an advantage. We've played a couple of tests already, regardless of the pitch conditions the general conditions are very similar to home. But it will come down to execution
-
A quick scan of the Internet suggests it will swing at Southampton. And our bowlers love the Duke ball
-
27 for 1.

I was a bit disappointed, I was hoping to get the winning runs without a boundary.
-
10 to win now. We are about to have the deficit down to single figures
-
I remember when we thought hitting out of the ground was worth 12...
-
5 to win. 31/1.

I did notice that one of the English threw at the stumps and it hit one of our bats. Didn't ricochet off to the boundary this time....
-
Young drags one on off Stone. Two down.
-
Young played far too away from his body. Cue Rosco to be out in the middle on a famous day
-
Latham hits a 4. Scores tied. One to win.
-
Latham gets us to match point
-
Scores tied, quick someone do a boundary count.

Will there be a Super Over?

They came to Fortress Edgbaston yesterday and made it look like a bouncy castle..
love an extended bouncy castle metaphor.
-
Awesome boys!
-
Latham hits it for 4. Punches the air. Ilford 2nd XI win the series.
-
Out for less than 200 and win at a canter? Reverse jinx!
-
What a shellacking
-
A nice little not out for Latham and that will fucking do lads. What a team.
-
fuck yeah!! Great job lads. Cannot wait till the team for India is named... although I admit I am nervous about what Stead might cook up!
-
I would have preferred winning by 10 wickets, but having Latham and Taylor out there for the winning runs felt good.
Fantastic result BCs.

As good as he played, I hope Matt Henry isn't there. For me we play with 4 seamers and Ajaz
-
Alrighty. England brushed aside and it's all eyes on the big dance. Going to be so epic. Still can't quite come to terms with the fact that we are in the final of the first ever TEST championship.
We get to play fuck all tests overall, we have none of the resources of the big teams, and yet we've somehow put together a world class team sitting on top of the world.

Someone on Cricinfo just pointing out the long range forecast for Southampton is a bit dodgy.
I'm not too worried about Stead - because, barring injuries, I think ten of our XI are rock solid and to be honest I can see pluses and minuses for each of the four I think are in consideration for the eleventh place - Santner, CdG, Ajaz and Mitch Jr.
I think Santner is still the favourite though - and I can live with it.
-
How good!!
1999 to 2021 is a long time between drinks, a great result for NZ cricket.

Don’t worry Henry is absolutely no chance.

Agreed. Now Kane and Stead have to see what is obvious to the rest of us and pick Ajaz

Pleased for Henry. His early wickets were instrumental to knocking England over so cheaply to set up the win.
