The quicker they learn what an absolute fluffybunny of a game cricket is, the better for their mortal soul. It doesn't matter what level you play, or what your form is like, or how much time you spent in the nets, some days you are going to turn up, bowl 10 overs 0-88, and get a 3rd ball duck, and drop a catch. And your dad won't even be there to watch.
Cricket hates you, and you need to learn that as quickly as possible.

Auckland cricket grades that my son has been playing in.
U12 was 9 ball grace, U13 was 6 (with LBW). Suggest you just check with your local organisation/club. Info for Auckland here (depends on the comp, of course)

Hmmmmm interesting. As I understand it it’s basically full adult rules as of October/November. In the last few games myself and the co coaches really focussed on getting them playing forward defensive strokes in readiness for next season which can’t be a bad thing.
It’s pretty tenuous to assume I ever played one of these in my playing days, but then again we live in a world where Luke Ronchi became a Black Caps batting coach so anything is possible.

Difficult to know, but I worked with loads of Indian cabin crew (many hundreds if not thousands), mostly female, pre IPL. They all knew their cricket, had a complete disdain for the Craps (and they were crap then, even though we beat India some of the time.) They were just as knowledgeable about tests as ODIs and were just as willing to enter a debate about players as we are on here. Indians will fill cricket grounds and watch it on TB no matter what. It's not like they have too many other internationally competitive teams, or sports people for that matter.

Yeah based on all of that India should be more dominant than they are.
A shortage of big fast bowlers to go with their beguiling spinners and little master batsmen has obviously been a major weakness over the years.

@mn5 Agreed. Decent quicks has always been a problem for them but it must be difficult to encourage kids to learn the trade. Even if the pitches were a bit different to get some seam movement, they often don't have the overhead conditions to encourage swing.

Also poverty doesn’t stop Brazil from dominating football as one example.

No, no, no. They decided this was the length of the pitch based on some random Roman with a size eleven and a half shoe. It has always been so, and must remain so. Danny Morrison will just have to call it the 20.1168metres in future.

I love innovation and change in sports. We'd all be playing football (soccer) without it.
That said, this is stupid and I don't see anything interesting. And I was a fan of cricket max.
The best innovations start by looking at problems in a sport and trying to improve them. Length of play is clearly a problem and odis and then t20 have tried to address that.
Shorter forms shrink the gap between talented and untalented players by increasing the amount of luck. Max tried to fix that by introducing better rewards for more difficult and more consistent run scoring and more punishment for mistakes (the 4th stump).
I don't understand what problem ecb are trying to fix, other than a shortage of money so let's try sell a new competition.

Nothing more deflating than being an opening batsmen, batting first, and getting out in the first over. Not only are you fucking pissed at getting out, you realise you have to hang around for another 5 fucking hours and all you have to look forward to is a bit of bloody fielding. fluffybunny of a game alright, who the hell would play it.
