Either Sonny-Bill is having a massive laugh or he actually forgets he’s on camera. It’s too funny to not watch!
I don’t mind Harrison. Turunui is a bit of a whinger.
Parsons and Hames, nup can’t listen to either.
Potentially train wreck TV. Compulsive viewing

I agree about Harrison, much prefer him as commentator to player. But not the most incisive on strategy

Bring back John Howson and transistor radio.
He was awesome. Showing your age.
IIRC he gave away the head commentary job for Radio NZ as a result of the '81 Springbok tour. Set up an independent news and sport broadcast company.

Justin Harrison is a funny one. Couldn't stand him as a player and is extremely biased towards any Aussie SR team, but at the same time I like him and his clear passion for Aussie rugby. I actually don't mind the aussie commentary at all tbh.
Jeff Wilson and Ken Laban are the only 2 that I have any time for out of the NZ guys.

Agree, I enjoy Justin Harrison. He's openly in favour of Aussie rugby and their teams, but he enjoys any good play, as well as a bit of push 'n shove.
Basically I enjoy anybody whose talking when Sean Maloney isn't. I really can't stand him as a commentator.

Like Justin H too. Also Joel Stransky on any Saffa commentary - knowledgeable, calm and doesn't knows when to speak and keep quiet

The crop of commentators at the moment are all shocking imo.
Marshal makes me want to find him and sock him.
Nisbo should have retired 10 years ago.
Johnson average at best.
Jk one of the few I don't mind
Wilson ok but very biased
Mills sounds about as intellectual as a five year old.
Rikki s average
Laban is way to over eager at times.
Hames waaaaay to much dribble and is an extremely boring talker
Parsons like Hames but more thick
SBW sounds like a complete retard
Mertens total windger
Harrison excessively biasedCan't remember the rest (yes I know some are aussies)

Comes across as an overexcited school kid.
I actually don’t mind Mertz, but he does get things dead wrong at times (eg the Papalii incident).

Well I like Mils, Laban (I don't mind someone who actually knows where players come from and loves the game) and Hames maybe boring to you, but I find interesting as he knows the laws and game, same as Parsons he knows the game.
I don't need the commentators to be exactly as I want, and actually enjoy the difference, and if one or two annoy me now and then just kind of shrug my shoulders. I pretty easy to please, as I take much more notice of what I see anyway, not what I hear, think it's why I like watching games live at park. -
@Stargazer 'd think he'd give it away and retire, but I guess he needs a gig to keep himself in pies and doughnuts and ...
I mean he's even older and fatter than me!
Can't agree with him about Nisbett and Johnson. They're even more pensionable than Smith (performance wise at least for TJ).

He's still very much a class act in the commentary box. He'll be in hot demand in Australia and England for a year or three yet. No need to retire if he's enjoying it.

Key line is probably;
"There’s a purpose and a direction towards Maori and Pacific island input and of course female sport like never before. The way of the world as they say."
So essentially being put out to pasture for fresh faces. Not new for TV, but the new commentators have a lot to follow.

Not a fan of his rugby commentary but he's been doing a good job in Aussie commentating the cricket. He asks questions and squeezes some relevant info out of their blokey commentators

Gutted to hear this but reading between the lines Sky is obviously pandering towards that direction our society is taking.
Let's hope this new blood so to speak isn't a detriment to our viewing pleasure and Sky actually employee people who are good at their jobs, no matter their demographic.

Nisbett hasn't been good at his job for years and they cancelled TJ's show that he was actually good at, so don't expect much.
