With Alama in charge again and with all the disruption/noise I'm expecting another frustrating campaign like last year (whilst they very nearly won the comp they didn't play particularly well all year - it was a lot of individual brilliance bailing them out) - on paper that's a useful team though.
Could be a in a bit of a hole early with Canterbury and Ta$man first up.
The draw is front loaded for Auckland
In the first four rounds we play the four strongest teams (according to tab odds): Canterbury (H), Ta$man (A), BOP (H), Wellington (A)
Auckland's draw on the TSF results pageI'd be happy with a 50/50 record from the first four rounds.

@african-monkey when the offer is Super plus NPC, id say thats a very very easy decision. and the right one, without doubt
Yeah, I'm unsure why this is riling some posters up, snowflakes indeed.

@african-monkey I would have to agree with you ,on saying that heβs not the Lone Ranger ..so many of this generation want it now and are not prepared to sit in the wings

I see both sides of this too - but when you could fall over tomorrow and do your knee and never be the same again, I can see why players want to move to try and get established (and paid).
I think it is good for Blues rugby if they are telling young players to wait as it shows the depth they are building, but with Auckland signing Kata I can see why young players (who would be expecting this to be the competition where they would get a go) say fuck this shit, I'm out of here.

Especially if they watched him play for the Brumbies. A poor man's Laumape.

Maybe it shows society is getting soft take the easy Road,Spit the Dummy to easy, that will make you stronger NOT.
Not a reflection so much on this player a reflection on people in general now.A lot softer hence Snowflakes. -
@steven-harris Been happening for a while now. They come from school rugby being the big stars expecting big pro contracts with people (fathers especially) telling them how great they are and then when they miss out on a team, they sulk and run off elsewhere until they get their way. Some work out, but a lot of them end up nowhere and end up leaving the game.
If it works out for Gridley, then well done to him, but its one if my pet hates when people just sulk when they don't get their way and let's be honest, Taranaki rugby is hardly flying atm, so is it really a good move for him in the long run?

@african-monkey i agree with you about the attitudes, but in this instance its a no brainer for the kid.
I think the aggressive NRL 20s programs started it and then the subsequent super rugby teams trying to pick AB's out of school made it worse.
Its genuinely hard to make it these days out of club rugby especially in the main center's chocka full of super guys and guys signed for 2-3 years. And one big injury can set you back 2 years.
Look at the Eden team 0 in the Auckland team? As long as where your leaving to has a good program, if their is an opportunity you have to take it. -

To be fair to Auckland, Ekuasi and Sione Tuipulotu are both Eden players. Though neither played in the final due to U20 and international commitments.

He is an amazing footballer, but he would be a absolute legend if he can come back to rugby at center and play well.

Not a reflection so much on this player a reflection on people in general now.A lot softer hence Snowflakes.None of this rings true to me. Players have left their area for better opportunities for years. Why would you stay if another team can secure your a Super contract? Your Crusaders dynasty was built on this method.
Leaving for a better contract is not spitting the dummy. Let's use our favourite Magpies example, BBBR could have stayed in Chch and played lower grade rugby to try and work his way past Big Bird, instead he moved to HB and the Chiefs and became the superstar he is today. What a snowflake.

RTS - his professionalism. He won't be selected this weekend, they won't rush him. Long term he might be a 12, but initially he'll be 14.

You are entitled to your thinking,I just don't like people who don't want to work for things.
Will we see, every young player in the future fucking off overseas because they are not given an AB jersey instead of sticking to it and growing their game to be worthy of it.
because that is the top end spill over from that attitude.Poor wee darlings just give them what they want because they think they deserve it.No wonder we are a becoming a whining PC world, harden the fuck up is my opinion.
