NBA 2015/16 thread

As I mentioned earlier in this thread OKC will have little option but to trade Westbrook if he has no intention of re-signing before he becomes a free agent.

It's no secret Westbrook wants to go back home to LA and OKC will want to get something in return (high draft picks or good players). Otherwise, he walks out the door and they get nothing.

This free agent period has been crazy. I read that Ray Allen has been making noises about coming back. He's one of the best pure shooters in NBA history but is nearly 41.
-

Is that a fact or is it just conjecture based on the fact that he is from Long Beach and went to UCLA? It seems like one of those things that has been repeated so many times that it has become an established fact but is there any source to that rumor?
-

OKC are undoubtedly weakened by the loss of KD but they have more pieces. Having said that I think they need to put the acid on him and if Westbrook doesn't sign an extension they have to trade him in order to avoid watching him walk for nothing at the end of the season

Agreed and I bet that's what they do. They couldn't afford to lose their best player for no compensation two summers in a row.
-

I will take that bet!

My bet is on him staying in OKC for at east the next 3 years!
-

The price for the boy from Rotorua keeps going up

Only conjecture at this stage but apart from being from LA, Westbrook's interests (i.e., fashion) seem more logical in that market than in OKC.

If OKC wants to keep Westbrook they will need to sign another top tier player to complement him as I don't think a lucrative multi-year contract will be enough if they can't compete for a title and beat GSW.
-

All they can do is show Russ the love, include him in their vision to strengthen, but they need to get him to put pen to paper -

Draymond Green accidentally snapchats pictures of his junk.

Only a 2-yr extension though as Westbrook has a player option for the 3rd year.

This is a win-win for both parties. Westbrook gets a max contract and can see how successful the new Thunder are with him leading the team, while Presti has 2 years to find the right players to complement him. Another big decision to be made in 2018.

I'm definitely going to make an efffort to watch more OKC games.
-
Steven Adams might be one of the coolest guys playing in the NBA.

And he's one of our own

@Rocky-Rockbottom haha great article (although a little long on "sources close to" and "unnamed official"). No sports do drama like the 2 big American winter sports. It's why i love 30 for 30.

Green looks to have cooled his heels a bit during the preseason after some further controversy during Rio.
No doubt there's plenty of juice on his past couple of seasons, but I think we are at that point (of every preseason) where the journo's are waiting for the season proper to start so they can write about something with a bit of currency to it.
On the Warriors, their rookie Patrick McCaw looks a prospect. He's been surprisingly effective in the preseason and could be a surprise inclusion in the rotation this season.
