Wow what happened to the roosters to blow a 12 point lead and kept scoreless for the rest of the game, JWH is a massive grub always runs into a tackle with his elbow up. Glad we got the 2 points so we should be 1st equal at the end of the weekend with the Storm who I can’t see losing.
-
@mikey07 lol righto
I can't stand the roosters but
Half their fucking team is out for most of the year, or forever.
A shitty sin bin, playing a team at the top.of their game that has all their players available. The result was a foregone conclusion. The only surprise was the 0-12 scoreline
-
Two stupid sinbins yesterday and both had an impact on the game, hard to know what could have happened. If ever mitigating factors could/should have been used..there were two great examples.
Cleary is at a different level to most this year regardless
-
Basket cases everywhere
The Tigers get annihilated by the Storm and their coach just walks out at half time.
The Broncos are coming off a spoon, seem destined for another one, have sacked everyone, and now "reports" of a player revolt.
Word is it's the shit players who should have been sacked earlier leading it. They should get rid of more, the players are the problem
Do not sign fucking Lodge!!
-
@mariner4life There seems to be no plan at Brisbane going forward. At least with Newcastle under Brown a few years back, the plan was to clean the joint out and start again. Brisbane seem confused as to whether they should get rid of senior players or not, whilst introducing new blood in a toxic enviroment.
They need to go the Knights route I feel and have a drastic clean out whilst introducing new blood. Doesn't help when they let go of Dearden, Walsh, Walker etc.
-
How in the fuck are Queensland supposed to compete with NSW when the the 3 Qld teams are complete dogshit. And their so called star players are pea hearted down hill skiers like Fifita.
The comp is fucking brutal to mismatched teams this year. A couple of pastings every week.
Those clubs trying to rebuild are in for a long few years because there isn't a lot of talent around.
-
@raznomore Yeah, definitely not on Carter's level running the ball, but he's improved that aspect of his game this season.
Among all halves, he's 2nd in the comp for linebreaks and tackle busts.
I see the DC comparison. Cleary is very composed but has that spark too. Lifts the players around him which is what DC did too.
-
fucking LOL
get on NSW to put 50 on Qld
Fucking pumped in teh first game, and what do the selectors do?
Pick Walsh on the back of 5 minutes of first grade.
Keep Capewell in the centres
Keep him next to Feldt in a defensive pairing that Tommy Turbo treated with disdain
Replace the injured Grant with veteran plodder McCulloch
Hunt gets a spot.
Bring in a Cowboys prop? It'll be another record breaking bloodbath

But isnt Queensland at its finest when the world is against them?
Personally I think its too early for the kid (but I laugh at Kevvie because Issako kept him out of the Brisbane side) , but congrats to Reece anyway, still an honour and a pay cheque to get chosen.
I dont mind Hunt, if he is replacing Grant (keeping in mind not many at Grants level). Hunt usually goes ok at hooker, if McCulloch for 80 at 9, then thats a paddling!

well, historically, yes
but
this new version of Rugby League is brutal on underdogs. There is one way to play the game, and the team with the talent wins. You can't slow the game down, you can't get a side in to the grind and try and sneak it. If the team has more talent, they win. By a lot.
The Gold Coast yesterday completed nearly every set they had. And they got fucking belted.

Certainly looks that way.
Tackle resets and head shot laws. Anything else you've noticed?

it's mainly the resets. Resets for inside the 10. Resets for holding on in the tackle. Kicking the ball out is now not a scrum, it's a play the ball.
And then throw in a sin bin for too many set restarts, and you cannot shut a game down now.
There are still different ways to exploit it though. Melbourne play with two running hookers that put constant pressure on markers and 1 defenders until a hole opens up, and then they either pour through, or immediately shift it to the edge if defenders have compressed to cover the hole.
Penrith play flat out defense that keeps teams pinned in their own end, gases them trying to work it out, and play fast and loose with the ball, with their halves keeping teams on the back foot for long periods of time. It's great footy to watch, they play with no fear, but they rarely make a mistake. They must be incredibly fit.
Manly just give the ball to Tommy Turbo and the rest takes care of itself.

Fucking Warriors manage to have one non running hooker with average skills in all other categories.
-
it appears we might be losing the battle with Canberra to sign Widdop, especially since rumours are getting stronger that they are trying to bring back Chad Townsend for the remainder of the season until he goes to NQLD. He is currently playing reserve grade lol
I know Broncos are rightly copping shite for their talent retention/recruitment strategies but Warriors linked with some interesting names of late.

how can i laugh at the Cowboys paying Townsend $800k a year for 3 years when we are going to sign him, even for a bit?
-
The Broncos are so good for rugby league over the past couple of seasons
Gordon Tallis went whack! Love on air this morning on thr shit shit stirring players. Says he knows who they are, called them gutless, and promised to out them if they keep it.up, and stop them getting a new job.
It's a beautiful rant
Of course, it ignores Gordon publicly running Seibold out of town do his mate Kevin could get a job. But at least Gordon stabbed him in the chest, like a real man
-
@mariner4life I agree with Corey Parker regard the 'old boys' at Brisbane haha. They have too much say and are just as much of a burden as the current crop o players and management haha.
