Got in better shape. I heard he's normally a bit of a fatty.

If Lodge, AFB and Tohu stay on the park, then thats a pretty good starting middle 3.

I desperately wanted to dislike Lodge when they signed him given his past conduct. However, had a bit of a read about him and it looks like he has tried real hard to atone for the America incident.

He's the type of prop we need in our team. Reliable, hard running and a good head on him. Sometimes a bit prone to pushing too hard for an offload, but otherwise I think he's been our second-best buy in recent years behind Walsh.

Where do you put the signing of Fonua-Blake if Lodge and Walsh are your top two signings? To me he's better than Lodge and Walsh, although he's on a bit more money.

The big man had another big game yesterday with 212m(102m post contact) and 31 tackles. We haven't seen those sort of numbers from a Warriors prop since Steve Price.

Aitken and Montya are two other recent recruits that are starting to the look the goods too.

Curran is not really a recent signing, but he's come of age this season.

Based solely on value for money for what we paid, I'd put him below those two. I think we've got Walsh for 400k a year on average and I know the Broncos are paying a sizeable chunk of Lodge's salary.

I think Walsh has the potential to continue to get exponentially better as he ages, and we've seen it already this season.

If you took salary out of it, AFB would sit above both, but given the salary cap is such an omnipresent restriction, I tend to judge signings based on what we pay for them.

Interesting you mention Steve Price re the metres because I understand there used to be rumblings about him monopolising all the easy metres (kick off return etc) to falsely inflate his stats. 102 metres after contact is a great stat line.

I like Montoya too - he's not flashy but is very consistent.

All good points. Actually regarding Curran there were massive wraps on him at the Roosters (they were nto happy to see him go), took a while to find his feet here, whether thats coaching, opportunities or just not living up to his hype previously, but he has had a huge year.

Wasn't there a member of the very early Warriors squad (circa 1995) who died from a similar injury? Surprised throat injuries aren't more common in rugby and league, given the high impact of both sports.

shocking news about Fifita, those injuries are always a risk with the front on, upright nature of RL. I am actually shocked they don't happen more often.

In other, far less serious news

It appears Jimmy Maloney, super pest, king grub, and serial winner is retiring. Team mates all over the world are breathing a sigh of relief.

Still early, but Storm down 10 - 0 to the Titans.

Storm will probably win in the end, but they've been a bit off for about a month now.

Storm down on a lot of usual starters, seemingly at the end of a heavy training load, playing the backup fullback at halfback, and the Titans were up an about. Upset definitely on the cards

aaaaaand the storm take care of them easy.

Quite a good game between the Panthers and Bunnies on right now.

12 - 10 to the Bunnies at HT.

Hopefully the Warriors get up today and get their 4th win in a row. Broncos just lost to the Roosters by one point last week, so could be a tough one.

I have fond memories of going with the family to Warriors vs Broncos games back in the early 2000s.

I remember being in the stands getting so hyped after these fights. Back then we won the games and the fights.

@dice we’ve come out of the sheds with a bang and scored two back to back tries, but true to form we give away a soft one straight after.

We are down 14-18 with 20 to go.
