Mitre10 Cup - "Could be with the ABs" XV
-

Josh Dickson (I hold out high hopes for this fella to step up for the ABs and improve the overall work rate and physicality))
Tom Robinson (Hard-working forward who should be in Aussie)
Salesi Rayasi (How good can this lad get?)
David Havili (Nuff said) -

Not ready yet, but Kaleb Trask has FAB written all over him and not in the Scott Hamilton sense
Heβs got as much chance of being an All Black as Masaga, Ranby and Atiga
He is still very young and would have never said it last year, but if he keeps improving like I think he has through the year this year (through SRA and M10), then I think he will get there.
I'm optimistic about Trask. I think he'll improve his top level consistency (goal kicking, field kicking) with more Super Rugby experience. He has a strong running game and seems mostly sound on D.

The form lock was Jacob Pierce, with Josh Lord not far behind.
Dalzell was better than expected too. Parsons was consistently good.
The young NH LHP, whose name escapes me and who replaced Nic Mayhew, is a beast at scrumtime. He could be a bolter when the SR squads are named as strong scrummagers are a rarity. -
@ACT-Crusader They looked better when he was there at the end of the season.

Geez, are we now throwing every reasonable Mitre 10 Cup player in the frame now? I think that's stretching the depth a bit, isn't it?

We're going to have to prune them into a XV at the end.
For each position there can be only one! (After last weekend, Joe Webber can attest to this).
Does no-one have a decent 13? Or some more 12s for that matter?
Is Tumua Manu the best centre - I'm struggling to think of anyone else?
-
@Chris-B Sam McNicol - if not injured - is good at 13. The problem is the "not injured" bit, though. Poor lad.
Edited to add that Jonah Lowe can play centre as well, although he gets most of his game time on the wing.
May be able to name a few more players when I've time to think about it.

Quinn Tupaea (although he didn't play as well this season compared to previous seasons)
I was impressed with Josh Timu in the Otago games I watched.
I don't rate Tomkinson. -

@Bovidae He needs another season, but I thought Antonio Mikaele-Tu'u looked promising for Harbour. If he can get to his twin's level, we've got ourselves a good prospect!
He was playing for University in Waikato club rugby last year or the season before.
-
@Bovidae Yes, that's right. He returned to Hawke's Bay this year (I assume he finished his studies) and played for Hastings R&S, but wasn't picked up by the Magpies (I think there was no room in the squad in the backs). Not sure how he ended up with North Harbour, but if there's room in the Magpies squad in 2021, I hope they'll sign him.

@nostrildamus lol, and loaded nacho style.. almost tempting to make a completely random no chance hat bet, just to try it!

Antonio Mikaele-Tu'u
AMT looks promising, his brother must have been close to AB call up, plays 6 as well I believe?
-
@nostrildamus Yes, MMT is a no. 8 and played there for the Highlanders all season, but he plays at 6 for the Magpies, because Devan Flanders is playing at 8. We're lucky to have them both in the squad.
