9 Actually Finlay Christie has been increasingly good for the defending champions.

As has 14 Mark Talea - who was terrible under the high ball in several early games, but dominant at the weekend. Not sure he's been the best 14.

11 Big Leicester has been decent though a bit quiet at times, but Rayasi has 11 locked up IMO.

5 Quinten Strange was excellent last weekend, but refer Romano above.

Add Sione Mafileo as a tighthead option.

showing my bias and limited attention to other teams

5 Josh Dickson (been a noticeable step up for us when he's played)
8 Nasi Manu (still has it, already capped for Tonga though so not really)

@Kiwiwomble I reckon Josh Dickson would have made the team on Super rugby form if he didn't get injured.

Agree on Nasi Manu - he's been one of Otago's major threats with ball in hand, but I guess he's ineligible.

proof our "depth" is utter dogshit

funny, I was thinking the opposite! Given the post-RWC departures, we've got talent on the way

Not ready yet, but Kaleb Trask has FAB written all over him and not in the Scott Hamilton sense 🙂

Agree with this. Talea has been disappointing for most of the season, so due for a big one this Sat. 😉

The two best wingers have been Rayasi and Fainga'anuku. Just move one to the right wing.

He’s got as much chance of being an All Black as Masaga, Ranby and Atiga

@Kirwan should be able to help with that.

Some of the names mentioned are very promising. Let's hope that they would be picked in position...

He is still very young and would have never said it last year, but if he keeps improving like I think he has through the year this year (through SRA and M10), then I think he will get there.

Gatland is the top points scorer so I would favour him at 1st 5.

Quite incredible to think that Boshier and Hunt were left behind and Kirifi went instead.

Wellington has had a couple of hookers who have looked promising in the limited amount I've seen.

    Midfielders?

Alex Nankivell has been solid for the Mako - Fetuli Paea is ineligible, but also slightly disappointing compared to my expectations.

Josh Dickson (I hold out high hopes for this fella to step up for the ABs and improve the overall work rate and physicality))
Tom Robinson (Hard-working forward who should be in Aussie)
Salesi Rayasi (How good can this lad get?)
    David Havili (Nuff said)
