The most Harrison can hope for, is to have a situation like the Toronto Raptors who traded away Lowry for Kawhai and won the championship that year. That's the only thing that will ease the sting of Dallas flushing the next decade down the loo
Lowry was in that team that won. He traded DeRozan. And DeRozan is no Luka.
But you're right, anything less than a ring means this is a failure, and a bad one at that.

Listening to the Mismatch podcast, Chris Vernon had an interesting theory that I liked.
Nico Harrison is a big Kobe guy. So by extension you'd assume he is a big believer in the Mamba mentality stuff, in the gym at 5am, first in last out kind of stuff.
You know who isn't that type of guy? Luka. He's got weight issues. Likes a beer. Doesn't work as hard as some of his peers.
So while others might be willing to overlook that if the results are there, he might not be as forgiving. So he looks at Joel Embiid (similar talent, similar weight/conditioning issues) and what he's become and the noose his contract is around the 76ers necks, and thinks 'I have to get out of this future'.
Now that still doesn't explain why he traded him away for cents on the dollar, but it does somewhat explain why he wanted out of the Luka experience.

for Anthony Day-to-Davis???
-
Mamba mentality. jesus. Nikola Jokic hates basketball, and everything that comes with it, and is probably the least athletic looking guy in the league. He's also the best player in the league by some distance.
Harrison is a fucking idiot.

Been more durable lately.
I did like the idea that they needed a better defender because they were shown up in the Finals by the Celtics. But of course in the process of acquiring a rim protector they traded away the reason they got to the Finals in the first place...

But they basically knew Leonard was only staying a year. So it was a gamble to sell fan favourites for a one year loan

They had the 8th best D in the league last year when making finals.
They lost the Finals because they couldn't shoot well enough when it counted, not because the Celtics were rinsing them for 140pts per game.

I am about 60% sure you're agreeing with me, so......great! haha
I think I am.
Our next fucking 10 years.
Look, I know we might not have been a championship team, but we had an All NBA player, we just went to the finals, and we needed is a front office to put the pieces around him.
Instead... we get this shit.

Dallas are fucked
Sorry @gt12
You’ve no chance of winning
That's fucking cold after I made you an honorary gt12 family member.
However, I guess it is required for family to tell the truth. And, we are fucked. The Mavs faithful know it too, we are all fucking furious.

Ooooh bitch!

BTW.
In 2006 the Mavs went to the finals with Dirk.
We got a championship with him in 2011.
Last year, finals with Luka.
A five year timeline for Luka would have been fine for fans.b
But this GM knows he'll be out the picture by then, based on the decisions he's already made. -

Must be time for an NBA hot take
Luka Doncic, for all his offensive skill, is not a player who can lead a team to success. His brand of basketball does nothing for his teammates, and he puts in absolutely zero effort at the defensive end. It might be possible to build a winning roster with Luka in it, but it would need very specific guys to do it, and your star is not raising anyones floor.
M4L is Nico Harrison confirmed.
