The great thing about the 4 teams left is that you can honestly say they are there without having an “easy” route.
Some say the Warriors did, but let’s not forget the Grizzlies have given it to the Warriors over the last 2 seasons.
Heat v Celtics - outside in offence vs iso plus drive & kick 3pt offence. Two very good defensive teams that have physicality on the wings. The superstar match ups of Jimmy & Bam vs Tatum & Brown will be good. But which supporting cast steps us - Kyle, Herro, Strus, Tucker vs Pritchard, White, Williams, Horford. Prediction: Heat in 6
Warriors v Mavs - there’s a real chance we could see a game where both teams score 130+. High powered offences but both teams do rely on their quite different defensive systems. The Mavs set out to get Luka in switches with CP3 so he could back him down and either force a double team or just power to the hole. Will they target Steph who is stronger than CP3 but will still be vulnerable. Warriors will get Steph and Poole in mismatches too. It will be a war of attrition series. Prediction: Warriors in 7
Is that who you want to win, or who you're predicting will win? Because I think Boston will be way too good for Miami, even without home court. Too many scorers and a much-improved defense that can easily shut down the more limited Heat.
I also have Mavs over GSW, not for any better reason than the team with the best guy usually gets up. I think Luka has gone to another level this year.

Patrick Beverly this morning got to live out every Ferners dream, got himself on TV for the sole purpose of slagging the fuck out of a far superior player
one he doesn't like
This was some fucking extreme hating. It was almost a thing of beauty.

He has such a big chip on his shoulder. Hated if he isn't in your team, loved if he is

Wow shots fired!

@voodoo i didn't mind it, but that response was a little bit too "shoot the messenger"
yes, coming from a role player it was way over the top.
But where Beverly really fucking missed was calling Paul a training cone, not in this game, but in general.
7 time NBA defensive team Chris PaulPlayers don't lose sleep about playing Chris Paul
12 time all star Chris Paul, a guy who averages over 17 NBA seasons 18 points and 10 assists a game.
(incidentally it looked a lot like the Mavs had a plan designed specifically around Paul, so maybe some thought in to him aye Pat?)Did Chris Paul play well in this series? no. Should that be called out? Yes
Is that best done by straight calling him an overrated chump? fuck no
by a guy who in his best season has stats half what CP averages? absolutely fuck noBeverley then really doubled down by going hard to defend James Harden from exactly the same shit he is going at paul for
It was great TV for generating outrage and clicks for ESPN (so, their business model) but just awful basketball analysis.
-
@voodoo I don’t disagree that Luka will probably be the man in that series, but it could be like Lebron and the Cavs when he dominated but were beaten by a better team. I think it will go the distance though.
There’s something about the Heat’s toughness which is starting to rise to the fore. Celts are a little vulnerable if the 3 ball isn’t dropping. 40-50 attempts a game…

I didn't see that. The show I saw him on he was a little more restrained. But still chippy
-
@mariner4life I was watching it live and he was giving it to JJ Reddick for calling Ayton a great player. Love JJ and he backs his stuff up with stats, but Pat was on fire!

as my fist post said, it was basically a televised Silver Fern rant. It was great TV don't get me wrong.
And in a way, i respect it and wish pro sports had more of it, rather than the bullshit say nothing/buddy buddy crap we have now.
Sport needs real rivalries with feeling again!

The most annoying guy on ESPN. His whole schtick is to yell louder than anyone else to get his point across. Obviously PB outdid him!
-
I don’t mind Stephen A when he is on the panel with Jalen Rose, Michael Wilbon and Greenberg- but the other 90% of the time he is way to shouty
-
My favourite show is PTI. I enjoy Jalen and Jacoby. I've started watching This Just In with Max Kellerman which is quite good. Around the horn is mindless filler, and I'm generally not up when Mike Greenberg is on but his show is quite a good watch when I do
-
Patrick Beverly continues to make waves, clearly the paymasters at ESPN are liking the disruption
http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=33932317
I can't tell if it is all for show, or if JJ Reddick genuinely dislikes PB. Probably just irritated because Pat is clearly wrong when it comes to James Harden. No way is he a max player now, the guy is diminished and can't carry a team, and he has a pea heart
