and so it's Dallas who are trying their hand at the "make Kyrie work" magic trick.

They gave up Dinwiddie but little else

It's a great move for Dallas
It could be the championship pieces. Or, he might fuck us completely.
Yep, absolutely - but when you have a generational guy like Luka, you have to take your shot. Dallas weren't winning with that roster, maybe now they have a shot in what really is a wide-open West. There isn't a team in that conference that would want to face Dallas in a series now.
Obvious weakness is D now (though how much worse can it get than it is already...), but offensively Irving is an amazing shooter for any kick-out, he'll create instant space inside for Luka to attack, and he can run the offense when Luka sits, which theoretically should reduce his minutes and usage for a longer playoff run.
Worth a swing for the fence IMO

If he doesn't respect KD enough to play for the team, what are the chances he's diamonds for the Mavs? At least they didn't give up much

Pretty much how I feel, but I think they’ve given up a bit given that he might be a one season rental. I think Dinwiddie is pretty useful and would have been ok if we’d added more around him. Luka needs shooting around him and we need help on defence. I’m not sure we get enough of what we really needed.

So many if’s! Dinwiddie is “useful”. We just need shooting and defense!
Mate, so does everyone!
Mavs are currently in 6th, neither challenging or tanking or really growing.
You’ve got a genuine superstar in Luka, and you’ve added a basketball genius in Kyrie, someone you might not want to build your franchise around , but someone you’d very happily take into a G7 anywhere.
Luka is ready to win now, who knows if / when his body might break down.
Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Take your shot

DFS is their best wing defender and he has a bit of size to play switches. That’s a loss for the Mavs.
Lots of noise about the Nets doing another deal that could actually involve Dinwiddie.
That Suns deal would’ve been something the Nets would’ve liked but they went cold.

Kyrie, Luka, Hardaway, Wood, Powell is not a bad starting 5 by any stretch. Add Bullock, Kleber, Green, Morris, Bertans and they have shooting around Luka and Kyrie.
Powell is a workhorse on D and when Wood wants to play D he isn’t a slouch (but it’s top 2 inches with him).

i can only dream of being as shit as the Magic and the Lakers

Good old American sports.
The game stops for 10 minutes after LeBron breaks the all time points scoring record.
Amazing accomplishment - you have to wonder if it's one of the those records that will never be broken although with the 3 point shot so prevalent maybe not.

pretty sure they said that about Wilt's record
it's highly improbable though. LBJs career to get to this point in 70 games every year for 20 years averaging over 27 points. That's phenomenal longevity. How many guys his age are still regularly sticking up 30-point games?
-
@TeWaio i thought it was pretty funny that he had 36 to 3/4 time. got 2 more for the record. and then no more. And his team lost by 3.
Josh Giddey looked fucking good in the NBL, and it's very cool to see him now look very good in the NBA.
