NBA Season - now 24/25

Biggest delay in an update. Went to my first NBA game at the start of last month while in Chicago. Was pretty excited even though it was against the Jazz. The Bulls got a win as well. Because it was against the jazz we got pretty awesome seats for $100USD. Growing up as a kid I had bulls Duvet, Hat, starter jacket, MJ collection cards etc.
Was a cool experience but was gutted a couple of days later I didn't/couldn't go to Bulls vs Suns which KD and Beal played in and went to OT. I got pretty sick once the conference I was there was over so missed going to that game and the NFL game the following night which the Bears won as well.Amazing what they can get to mid-week sports games in the USA. It was funny years ago I lived in Canada and they would be so excited to watch Super rugby games/6 nations games and in 2011 seeing AB's live. Of course I get excited about the AB's but we take it for granted. I was that type of excited for a live NBA game.
Anyways Bulls are about to blow up now but are winning. I had a huge collection of Coby White Rookie cards couple of years back. Sold during the Mania but imagine his value has returned with his recent form.

@Magpie_in_aus Coby is on fire at the moment and definitely playing the most consistent of the Bulls players right now. He got a pretty decent contract out of his rookie contract, but it is the sort of contract that is atteactive in trades, so with his trade restriction ending before the All Star break, he could be part of deal if they do blow it up (and do a deal to trade LaVine out)

so, the Spurs suck, but at least we get Wemby highlights, and beat the Lakers.
But oh boy is it bad in Detroit. They lost their 25th straight today, to the 10-18 Jazz, who rested a bunch of their best players, and who were playing their 4th game since Sunday, and on a back-to-back.
Apparently the all-time record is 26-straight. Surely today was their only chance to avoid that?

Big big scoring year
5 players averaging above 30ppg, 43 players averaging above 20ppg5 years ago those numbers were 1 averaging 30, and 23 averaging above 20
Team average PPG is up huge since then too
This season 6 teams averaging above 120ppg (Pacers leading the way at 126), and the worst offensive side in Memphis still above 106
5 years ago a total of 0 teams averaged 120, the Warriors were the best at 113. The Grizzlies league-bottom average would have seen them 13th.Scoring is just through the roof. And that's with FTA looking slightly down.

Spurs fans watching Wemby take on Giannis

lol Jokic cracks me up
Denver had Detroit yesterday, and rather than do what most stars in his position would do, jack up 20 shots and try for a 40-piece, he instead toys with them, doesn't shoot (2 FGA all game, he had more blocks than that) and instead dishes it off for 16 assists.
Bloke is wired different

He really is. I think they're kinda just spinning wheels until the playoffs.
He was taking the piss against Detroit, which is fine in a comfortable win, but he also does weirds things like shoot 9-10 in a loss to OKC, a game where Reggie Jackson took 10 shots, and MPJ and Watson (yes, Watson) took 12 each. If my team is losing, and my best guy who happens to be the best player in the world, is shooting 90% for the game, I'm pretty keen for him to be taking 25 shots and at least double some random 2nd year dude.

they are just cruising. Feel like they have done little of note but sit poised to grab home court advantage.

agree, won't have it all their way though, the Clippers look to be finding form (last game aside)

Wemby with a 21-minute triple double
The Warriors are in that horrible position where their favourite sons are cooked, but they can't trade them. Don't pay Dray, don't pay Klay, they are vet min players now. They aren't even a play-in team now, it's time to properly rebuild.

And on a minutes restriction too

The ppg might be the least impressive thing he’s doing, especially given I don’t love the 5 x 3pt attempts per game at 30%…but what he’s doing on the glass and at the rim defensively is really awesome.
Both talent and determination in a shitty team being coached to tank. He’s averaging 3.1 blocks pg which is really wild - to your point on minutes restrictions, that’s basically 4pg on a per 36 basis.
Oh, and he’s also 2nd in the league 🤯
Likewise his rebounding, 10.1pg is 13pg on a per 36min basis.
Truly great numbers for a rookie.

lol Embiid saw the Wemby hype, and he took that personally
He's taken basically half of the sixers shots today, helped himself to a quiet 59 and 15. He's having an incredible season

wait, and KAT has 44 in a half. Night out for the big fullas

62 in a home loss to Charlotte...you couldn't script a more apt KAT performance

And Edwards couldn’t hit the side of a barn.
Embiid took 41 shots from the field and attempted 23 FTs - those are Kobe-esque numbers. It was a pretty decent game for 2 and a bit quarters.
I’m interested in what trades are coming. The OG one has worked from the get go. Siakim is taking a few games it seems.
Key players I’m watching to see potential moves - Anfernee Simons, Dejounte Murray, DeRozan. These are all good pieces for Championship aspirants with 2 established frontline scoring options (eg Bucks, Lakers, Mavs (although they have cap issues))
