Warriors first team through in the West. Some interesting lineups that Kerr went with during this series.
There’s either some shrewd gamesmanship going on by Kerr in a message to the league or they still don’t know whether to play Wiggins in their best/close out lineup.
Whether it’s his passing game or getting to the basket or stepping back for 3, Steph is still must see TV.
And what I think will be the series of these entire playoffs - Boston v Bucks. Length, offensive power, a championship team vs the best team in 2022. Love it.
I watched the 2nd half. Steph was great. And while I know he had a hammy and was in foul trouble, Jokers defense was pathetic. Those 2 drives from Steph, Joker was the help on both and right there - he didn't even bother to put a hand up.
Stoekd to see GSW go through. Klay still looks a bit off to me. GP2 stepped up big. And Draymond was a complete beast on D
Jeez you are a tough marker mate. Joker was clearly diminished physically, which Steph exploited drawing his 5th foul, a guard outpacing a hobbled big man. He spent long stretches on the bench and came on to basically singlehandedly keep the Nuggets close with his scoring. Great to see the players embracing after the game, something you don't always see in NBA games
He was amazing offensively again. But he really is a liability defensively. It's not hard to raise an arm. Can't remember what game it was in this series, but he got benched for a defensive possession down the stretch. Thats not a great look for the MVP...
The Warriors went really small on that play. Porter Jr and Wiggins were playing the 4 and 5. Most centres aren't going to stay on the court on that possession.
Mate, they'd targeted him in the pick and roll the last few possessions. They forced him off the court. That's not happening to Embiid or TGF. Heck, it didn't even happen to Steph...
Embiid might stay in, but I'm not sure he'd fair much better in the same scenario, not many true 5s would. Gobert is considered the best defensive centre in the game, but he often gets taken out on defensive plays late in games against 5 shooter line-ups too.
Not saying Jokic is a great defender, it's just really hard for most centres to defend what the Warriors were running with that line-up.
-
@ACT-Crusader @Dice Don't disagree, tough for any centre against those lineups targeting you. I was more concerned about his lack of effort though - the 2 drives Curry scored off (not the foul he drew on Joker), Joker was really lazy. He was in great position, and didn't even bother to put a hand up. Sure he was on 5 fouls, but he could have done much more than he did. No point saving yourself for offense when you're giving up layups at the other end.
-
@voodoo I think he was spent and the leg was giving him issues. Plus add carrying the team, away from home, hostile Warriors crowd, down on the scoreboard where you are sort of in it but not really, demoralising moments when it’s not even one of the big name players hitting two huge 3s.
They weren’t great plays, but it didn’t really cost them the game (or series).
-
Mavs close out the away win and get their first playoff series victory in 11 years!
Pelicans arrggghhhhhh. You actually had that.
Just mouthwatering matchups coming up in the East semis.
-
The cream has risen to the top and we have the 8 best teams in the semis. Not just because of their records, but because they were just better.
Heat v Philly - with Embiid out indefinitely you would think Heat are home and hosed, but could this be Harden’s time. Like Boston, the Heat play very deep and are defensively very good. Heat in 5
Bucks v Boston - just mouthwatering what this series could throw up. Can Tatum and Brown trouble TGF and Holiday? Both teams have very good supporting casts. Boston in 7
Suns v Mavs - a bit of a wildcard. The Mavs 5 out offence will minimise the strengths of the Suns defensive game and Ayton’s shot blocking. Play zone and the Mavs have the shooters. Book looked well off 100% in game 6 so it will be interesting how he goes. Mavs in 7
Warriors v Memphis - the rebounding game of Memphis will really trouble the Warriors. But the Warriors do have a defensive game that will trouble Morant, Bane and Jackson. Klay getting back to his best could be massive for the Dubs. Warriors in 6
-
Warriors steal first game in Memphis. Klay will be breathing a sigh of relief after missing two free throws at the end
-
Just watched a condensed version of the Bucks and Celts game, the Celts were Brick City, USA…
Far out they were jacking it from 3. Holiday was superb.

I know Steven Adams is out with covid, but do you reckon he even gets a game when available this series?

Possibly when the Warriors play Looney. Their other two bigs are versatile when the Warriors play small ball.
What the Grizzlies will get with Adams is better rebounding. Warriors had 16 offensive rebounds today and they out rebounded the Grizzlies (one of the best rebounding teams in the league). Rebounding isn’t really a strong point for the Warriors but they were excellent today.

I guess they now know MIL aren't BKN...

there we go.
Big half by the Celts. Brown huge.

Just checked the score. That's a big hole for MIL to climb out of

Lights out for Brown. The full repertoire too - 3, midrange, got to the foul line
Defence has been good too from the Celts.
-
Celtics completely reliant on the 3 at the moment. Risky stuff in a playoffs. They'll win today because they are falling, but if they don't in latter games?
Giannis taking the piss driving and the refs let him do what he wants. Different rules for some players.
-
carry job
Morant scores his teams last 15 points to hold serve in game 2.
47-8-8 is a biiiiig day out. -
Pretty exciting game. Other than Ja, none of the other Grizzlies really got into the game.
Klay was cold as. There were some good looks too.
Let’s see what the Grizzlies can do on the road in Oakland.
-
@mariner4life some bloody impressive ball movement by the Celtics though. It wasn't just iso-ball

GP2 out for weeks with a dislocated elbow. That was an ugly play by Brooks. The smack across the head alone would’ve got him a flagrant 2, but the fact he did it while GP2 was in the air makes it reckless and dirty IMO. Brooks head is down and he doesn’t even jump to properly try and block the ball is pretty damning on any defence of his actions.
I’m a big fan of Brooks and have been since I saw him as a freshman for the Ducks. He’s always played with the fire in the belly and hard nosed, but man this was too far.
GP2 is a key player for the Warriors. He’s obviously a locked down defender, but his athleticism and work around the basket on the boards and in the offence has been vital.

Yup it was a dirty and reckless play. In these situations perhaps the player should be suspended until the victim can play again? It's Payton's job to mark Ja so Memphis benefits
