New Zealand v West Indies

Interesting that the original team that was listed on Cricinfo had Santner in the 11, but it's since changed and Mitchell is playing.
Tom Latham
Will Young
Kane Williamson
Ross Taylor
Henry Nicholls
Tom Blundell
Daryl Mitchell
Kyle Jamieson
Tim Southee
Neil Wagner
Trent Boult. -

They're aiming for 85 overs this afternoon...
Bemusing to see cricket stuck in the dark ages and not allow the use the lights later to ensure they do get the overs bowled...
The time wasting in cricket is ridiculous. It's nearly 1pm NZ time and not a single ball bowled....

Trent Boult.I'm loath to get TOOOOOOOOO excited so early on in a young fellas career.....but seeing Jamiesons name alongside the other established and accomplished pacemen in that lineup fills me with glee.

Just turned it on, where the fuck is the pitch?
I'm a bat first no matter what person but shit our quicks would have been licking their lips at the chance of a first crack on that.
-
@No-Quarter We've seen this before though in NZ. They can look worse than they are.
It seems to be doing a bit but not going all over the place. True, that our guys would have liked to bowl and might have been better at exploiting it.
Right now just keep wickets in hand.

uh, red ball? Need a horrible pink/white to be able to see the damn thing

Yeah but I think the idea is to "supplement" the light, not actually play in the dark. Should be plenty of light at 7PM, we are only a couple of weeks from the summer solstice.

ah crap, missed that entirely. They can't use the lights AT ALL? if so, I couldn't agree more with OP - that's stuck in the dark ages.
edit: @gunner sorry fella, didn't understand your comment

@nzzp this is what I meant, not to play into the night.

You'd be tearing you hair out if you were the Windies bowling coach. It's just dross bowling. Wasted the new ball, wasted the opening session on bowling that was either short and straight or full and wide.
Yep, as @Snowy said when the pitch is green you need to make hay in the first session or it can quickly turn into a long day, and you end up putting yourself way behind the game given you will have to bat last.
-
@No-Quarter Doull thinks the wicket will stay the same for all of Day Two so there is still plenty of time for them to get their shit together.
Really disappointing effort to date though. They don't seem to have learned anything from wasting a similar opportunity at the Basin three years ago.
-
So 99-1 at a delayed tea break after 35 overs Latham 45 although he nicked it on 43 but only Bravo (behind the stumps) appealed and it was turned down Kane 39
Windies not patient enough and not consistently bowling the right length. Have been a couple of jaffas that probably deserved a wicket but very few of them and BC's have prospered. Not thge score you want if you've inserted

Haha. How did I know you were going to say something like that. Probably because I was going to, but you were quicker (and better).

One of the Spark coms (maybe Rigor?) reckoned the grass would dry out (along with the pitch getting a bit harder and it would be easier on day two. It doesn't appear to be a minefied anyway and I'm not sure the WI are using it well.

Curtley Ambrose would take 9-2 on that deck
