It would be good if the WRU listed who was unavailable due to injury in these team releases. I can only assume that Fletcher Smith is injured or he would have been straight back this week to replace an injured Rivez Reihana. The young guys on the wings and Sullivan at fullback. He's become a utility player this season.
A win here and Waikato could get a home SF. It won't be easy though.
-
Waaka at 10 and Sullivan at 15🤦
-
Coombes-Fabling was a 1st 5 at school (St John's) and for the Waikato U19s. I don't think he has been playing there in club rugby though, and as I said, a reliable goal kicker is needed. I thought they may have moved him to fullback.

Was that you on the Waikato facebook page saying they are the worst at social media on their team naming post? I liked your comment as I knew it would be a ferner

I've heard that Hone Harawira has set up a road block at Ohaeawai and are not letting any Tainui folk through to Kaikohe, so looks like Waikato will be forced to forfeit the game.
Unlucky.
-
1 Luatangi Li, 2 Jordan Olsen (C), 3 Coree Te Whata-Colley, 4 Josh Goodhue 5 Sam Caird, 6 Tom Robinson, 7 Kara Pryor, 8 Sam McNamara, 9 Sam Nock, 10 Dan Hawkins, 11 Jone Macilai, 12 Tamati Tua, 13 Rene Ranger, 14 Jordan Hyland, 15 Mathew Wright
Reserves: Ross Wright, Tyler Kearns, Kalolo Tuiloma, Kane Jacobson, Matt Matich, Will Grant, Wiseguy Faiane, Scott Gregory
-
@Duluth so Wright is reserve hooker?
Atkins , Tou and Hohaia all injured or determined not upto it?
Hawkins back Cooper dropped completely?
In positive news, Hyland is back, just need to use him for a change!
-
@taniwharugby they signalled that last week. So disappointing.
-
@kev which bit?
According to FB only 3 players injured, none of whom are hookers or Cooper.
-
@taniwharugby Cooper
-
@kev so yanked after 20 mins and dropped completely.
Did he not follow the game planor what? Was odd to be yanked and then dropped given he wasn't stinking the place up.
Strange decisions from the coaches continue.

I watched a replay after you guys were discussing his subbing. It was ~35mins
It seems the last straw was the terrible kick to touch from a penalty. That plus the charge downs I guess?
-
@taniwharugby others get a free pass. And we get to the end of another season with no player development. Useless.
-
@Duluth not any worse than Wiseguy with a couple of poor ones plus that poor decision to kick inside the 22 with men outside
Just strange IMO
-
-
@taniwharugby or Hawkins...this is why we never improve. They have no plan. Just game to game.
-
From what I've heard none of the 3 10s this year looking like being about next year.
-
@taniwharugby lucky dip again.
-
@kev just wing it...
I've said for years Matt Wright should be tried at 10, but we missed that boat too.
-
I’ve officially given up trying to work out some of these selection decisions. I guess we just roll with it and see what happens.
Either way, I hope we lift tomorrow and put that performance in that we are capable of. Haven’t seen anything from us since the Taranaki game.
-
so we stumble into the top 4, hopefully with that off our minds, the guys can go out and win tomorrow and show they deserve to be in the top 4 and if results go our way, sneak into 3rd.
-
Both teams have plenty to play for.
-
@Bovidae you guys in similar position arent you in that you need other results to push up a spot?
-
@taniwharugby We need one more point than Ta$man to get a home SF. So really 5 pts.

@Bovidae well if you win (as you likely will) it will be with a BP.
Hopefully though, our boys use thier smarts and can cut loose, looking like weather will play its part tomorrow
-
I tipped Waikato to thrash Northland but not so sure looking at the Waikato team. Idk isn't Northland always a weird one against Waikato?
-
@Yeetyaah usually you smoke us...
-
@taniwharugby nah like 2016 or something Northland thrashed Waikato
-
And 2017
-
Think 2017 was the coldest I have ever been at Okara Park, most people left at half time when things weren't looking great, but I stuck around and reaped the rewards.
-
@taniwharugby Northland supporters are incredibly patient.
-
disappointing crowd.
-
soft start
-
@taniwharugby right? Pretty shit.
