2020 Māori All Blacks

Seen nothing in billy proctor, rather wainui in midfield over him and Joe Webber been in great form for Waikato so did think he would make it but more or less squad I expected
-
@family-man Joe Webber will play at the Ignite 7s tournament (same weekend). That's also why other players (such as Kurt Baker, Regan Ware, Caleb Makene) aren't available. Agree about Proctor.

Pretty sure Roots has covered lock for the Crusaders
Yeah, he's played there for them.
I may be wrong but I can’t recall Roots ever playing/covering lock for us. He’d be no bigger than 6’2

@ACT-Crusader Definitely in pre-season. Didn't realise he was that short though. Doesn't look it.

@ACT-Crusader All I could find was this year's preseason game against the Hurricanes. He played in the 4 jersey in that game.

@Rapido I also wonder why this particular team has to benefit the PI Unions, as Pacific Rugby Welfare puts it. This is not the (future) Super Rugby team (as a pathway to test rugby for PI players). It's a team similar to the Māori ABs, a non-test representative team for players of a certain heritage, who are playing rugby in NZ.

They've invited foreign interference into their domestic selections, funding, structure.
They are fools.
They will have 4 voices (The 3 island unions plus Pacific Welfare) constantly in the media of which I doubt any of the 4 will ever all be happy at the same time.
This is just some end-of-season jolly.
Imagine when the real business starts.
I mean myself, and many others on this board, still resent Ian Foster as the most public figure in a Waikato Rugby Union operated Chiefs franchise from an ownership model structure from 15 years ago. NZRU will make nothing but resentments in this foray.
