He said he would carry on in the role until the outcome of the new election, which is to take place at some point between December and March next year. One intriguing question is whether Blatter will travel to the women’s World Cup in Canada, which starts this week. An ESPN documentary last month claimed Blatter had not been to north America for four years because of the FBI investigation into Fifa, although he has claimed he has nothing to fear from the investigation.

I love all the righteous talk coming out about "corruption" from our media here. As El Toro pointed out above, we just dress it up differently, but its the same shit.
-

I watched an ESPN doco on Sepp Blatter and FIFA on the weekend. They interviewed an ex-media officer for the Qatari bid who blew the whistle after witnessing bribes to African football officials by her bosses. Interesting point she made was, don't blame the Qataris for what they did, they were simply playing by the rules that FIFA work by. The fact is, if you don't grease the palms of the executive members that vote for the WC locations, you won't win. There is certainly plenty of blame to go around
-

In terms of corruption it really appears to be a "world" game. How an organisation could make a country like Brazil protest against football (or at least against FIFA) is reaching an epic level of incompetence.
