2005 is a long time ago since Otago won in Chch, and that was a SF.

Some beaut games this weekend, this one and Auckland v Waikato (I think Auckland are at home)

The way Canterbury got tuned up in Tauranga, you would have to think they will be like a cornered animal this weekend? especially at home. Is that three losses in a row for them?

@Bovidae yeah, not going to set my sites too high, a bonus point or two would be nice

we've had three wins on the trot so could be time for a reality check 😐

The cat is already among the Canterbury pigeons.

If they lose to Otago, that cat will be armed with a blunderbuss! πŸ™‚

Mind you, I'm not actually laughing yet. I don't think anyone is yet safe from the drop.

@Bovidae Virtually won Auckland the title that year. We wouldn't have beat Canterbury in the final otherwise.

No reason why Otago can't win. This Canterbury team is awful, so if they're gonna get a win in Chch, this is the perfect time to do it.

@Kiwiwomble Otago have a tough run in, with Canterbury, Southland in Invers and then Ta$man in Dunedin, I reckon Southland have a nice run in to make the top 4.

@taniwharugby yeah, we need to take the same approach as you might during a tight game, take the points on offer

if we play it safe, dont throw the ball around too much, try and keep close to these teams, make them work for it, just try and secure the playoffs

Are these Canterbury coaches picking the best players out of club rugby? That was a major complaint about Auckland in 2017, and the 2018 coaches reversed that tendency and won the competition.

From his comments, Dale MacLeod is targeting their last 3 games by resting so many players against Ta$man.

    Don’t choke Otago...πŸ˜‰

Massive week for this young Canterbury side to try and bounce back from a good old fashion pasting.

Would love to see a couple of combinations improve.

Is Dylan Nel injured or just being rested? I'm not familiar with Sam Fischli, any good?

like Hickey i think it must just be rest, he's had a big workload and now with Slade back he can take a break, unconfirmed though

    no idea on Fischli

Brodie McAlister returns from injury for the first time this season, while tighthead prop Oli Jager is also back.

Both openside specialists Tom Christie and Billy Harmon starts, pushing Prinsep to No 8.

Looks like he has to start when there is no room on the bench for him.
