Northland v Manawatu

Nicely done, can't blame that on lack of fullback

That's the right call. Commentators are dumb. You don't make a tackle by holding your arms out wide to the side of a player, you get your shoulder in
Like Tomkinson?
-
Enjoying this game too!
Not sure what the commentators were on about, that knock down was a yellow all day in modern times

Haha shoulder, with arms ready to wrap (not telling behind), and not to head - yes
-
@Machpants spot on, his hand was out to be in the line of the ball. Once you do that, you roll the dice.
Good lead for Northland now
-
Need to play smart now

Agreed. You do that to prevent the pass.
-
Least surprising thing of the round. Pickering makes a shithouse decision!
Not saying it may not have been correct just that it’s a big call to be guessing intent on that with such consequences. Could also have been entirely wrong. -
Ranger is so past it
-
Keystone cops
-
How many times has Ranger and Gregory lost possession
-
@Machpants he is unfit. And wants to throw magic passes.
-
@taniwharugby they would have a long lowlights reel.
-
@Crucial TBF he's been decent today, was more his keeping card in pocket in the first half after a warning

And thinks he's fast enough to rush out of defensive line, too
-
Big discrepancy in the class of the scrumhalves on the field.
-
@Machpants needs to realise it and use his power

@Machpants Ranger has/had some talent and skill
-
@taniwharugby yeah, still he'd probably be a good loose forward at this level!

Wiseguy MotM for me

It’s crazy how little game time Wiseguy has had since going north. Hopefully this match is enough for the coaches to move on from Hawkins

@Machpants him, Pryor, Nock, Josh Goodhue all well, but Wiseguy was great the way he slotted in and Pryor was excellent.
-
@taniwharugby yes, some good efforts. Pryor for me. He has always had pace and when the game opens up he stands out.

Something about Faiane's who make players around them look better.
-
Leilua played well I thought.
-
Some promising stuff out there, Ranger and Gregory a real worry though, these are a couple of players we need firing as they are likely to be central to alot of our play.
-
Work ons are Gregory, Ranger. Gregory just hasn’t improved with his kicking and option taking. He has talent but needs to work on accuracy. Ranger just needs to stick to the basics.
-
Good comeback from Nothland once they settled down and decided to build pressure instead of trying to score off every play. I enjoyed that game, good to have M10 cup back.
Also, please get rid of that haircut Sam Nock. That bleach is horrendous.
-
Who got the DM points?
-
gonna need to step up several notches to be competitive next week, Ranger & Gregory to get sticky hands (reckon they musta turned the ball over with errors at least a dozen times combined, thats alot of ball to lose through a simple error)
Leilua looked to be hobbling at times and assume he was forced off when Ranger had to come back on, so likely Macilai to come into starting lineup or maybe push Gregory to wing and Wright to FB, Faiane to start, and Cooper to come into bench, rest deserves to be unchanged...
Ta$man will send plenty of ball to Gregory on the wing or FB...I still think he operates better when playing closer in, at the back he has far too much time to think about things, and then take the wrong option or execute poorly.
@Machpants NOck then Josh Goodhue then a Manawatu player, Manako??

@taniwharugby keen to see how no22 goes with a name as good as that should have a good future
-
I was quite impressed with the Turbos Midfield and with Iose, strangely I didn’t see Mitchell do anything.
-
Good to start with BP win. Showed some good resolve to claw back a big deficit, something that wouldn’t have happened in past years.
Interesting to see Tana Umaga in the coaching set up. Anyone know what’s up with that?
