Chiefs 2021

Is Lolagi Visinia signed anywhere? Prefer nz qualified locals by far but he is right type of player Chiefs need.
-
@Stargazer All good. Saw an article years back looking at capturing he and others through CG loophole. But never happened. Hope he gets picked up somewhere if he is staying.

https://www.chiefs.co.nz/news-item/taavao-returns-for-gallagher-chiefs-in-202
Ta'avao has re-signed for the 2021 season.
-
Etene Nanai-Seturo has re-signed until 2022.

It's time for him to start playing somewhere in the region of the hype he has received.
yeah, he's been pretty ordinary so far.
he's hardly alone in that though
-
There will be opportunities on the wings. The problem is that 2 players who could play on the wing would rather be playing fullback.
-
ENS showed very good metres gained in NPC and broken tackles. His big work on is what to do once that run finishes. Lots of times he held on two steps too long. If he was a hungus that was still getting through and scoring in those situations it wouldn’t be so bad, but Masaga he isn’t.
Good coaching can work on that. He is definitely finding a way to play with big boys and with less room. -
-
The Janitor? Man that is a bad nickname.
-
@Machpants right? We call it a caretaker in NZ.

@Yeetyaah Janitors clean the toilets, so is he always cleaning up the shit his forwards give him?
And sweeping around to collect the missed tackles?

https://www.chiefs.co.nz/news-item/Bryn-Gatland-inks-three-year-deal-with-Gallagher-chiefs
Bryn Gatland confirmed for 3 years.
-
https://www.chiefs.co.nz/news-item/Gallagher-chiefs-sign-in-form-Waikato-halfback-Xavier-roe
Xavier Roe signs for 2 years.
-
I was kind of hoping there would be a new signing that no one knew about.
-
@Yeetyaah The length of Gatland's contract is a little bit of a surprise.
@Stargazer A swap deal (Alaimalo for Selby-Rickit) would be OK. -
Chiefs coach talking about Xavier Roe and Bryn Gatland. No new names, yet.
-
Thinking further about the possible selections at lock, the Chiefs also need to factor in that BBBR will be back in the squad for 2022 and could even be available for the end of SRA 2021 and the trans- Ta$man competition that follows. I am assuming like Whitelock this year, he can play once his NZR contract starts again in May 2021.

Still a few surprises left ...
Assuming that's a blacked-out photo of this years team, who are they?
In my dreams, that is a picture of:
ALB, Jordie (more likely Jacobson I guess), Weber, Cane, Cruden (more likely Gatland), Dmac, Vaaii

The person third from right does look like Cruden, but in saying that, the middle dude looks like Cane

I'll bet my house that the middle dude is Cane.

@gt12 Could it be that Retallick is coming back early? Or was he back for 2021 in any case?
He comes back May regardless I think, but that doesn't look like his hair
-
@gt12 or his height
-
None of those figures look to be locks based on their relative heights. Tall players to the back!

Looking at the link which provides the photos. The five in the middle from left to right are: Luke Jacobson, Brad Weber, Sam Cane, Aaron Cruden, Damian McKenzie.
In between Weber and Cane is Ardron, probably nothing to look into and they're just using the silhouettes for effect.
-
Yeehah - Darth Vader is the new Number 8 - standing at the back
-
Reading this article I assume the Hurricanes were one of the other teams that made an offer to Gatland.
-
How good. Head coach has no idea what's going on with his roster.

- denotes a player that is yet to debut for the Gallagher Chiefs
-
My only gripe is Chase Tiatia. Pretty stoked on Jonah Lowe as a signing.
-
I wasn't far off with my squad prediction but didn't expect Kaylum Boshier in the forwards.
Moli back to being a TH. That would be the youngest locking group in SR.
Happy that the Chiefs have largely recruited within the region.
