Kane needs to move somewhere. City is as good a place as any if Pep doesn't stick with playing a false 9.

If he left I couldn't blame him. We wasted an amazing statistical season from him and Son Heung Min. All those goals and assists, and we can't even challenge for the top 4

    well, that's that.

    Well done City, amazing team.

Man U resting players ahead of a tough run of games (caused in part by idiot supporters) gives Leicester a top 4 spot. And that's all she wrote for the league season really. Champs done. Relegation done. Top 4 done.

Cups the only thing to play for

City v Chelsea for the Premier League next year could be quite something.

By christ didn't that team of ours shit the bed after being champs? ( hi majorage ๐Ÿ˜)

It was proven how much they were reliant on Van Dijk in my view. That doesn't really explain why the strikers forgot to score goals, granted, but scoring goals is a confidence thing.

City didn't so much win the title this year as be the team that managed to not completely fall apart at some stage. That's not a slight on them, it's just way the EPL played out this (strange) season.

I think if crowds had been allowed, its' likely they still would have won, although you'd see Liverpool, United, Spurs & Arsenal with significantly higher points. The latter two wouldn't be fighting for the trophy though as they simply aren't good enough. Chelsea probably not much change, although perhaps the squad under Frank would have felt more how much he means the club and might have tried just that little bit harder. Who knows.

weren't Liverpool top at Xmas and I seem to remember people were writing Pep's obituaries in about October.

Vity won because they had the best squad which became crucial in such a busy year wih no off season. Pep seemed to have lost the dressing room earlkier in the season but relaxed and allowed the rest of the coaching team to have more say and the players found their mojo.

    Plus Fulham were robbed ๐Ÿ™‚

i wouldn't have thought so, Liverpool had fallen apart well before then

But yes, at the start of the season City were mid-table and everyone was calling them finished. They then went on one of those long strings of winning they tend to do and just moved past everyone

kinda surprised by the result this morning. Changes absolutely nothing for either team though.

I think Spurs were on top at Xmas, then we fell apart

It does make the Chelsea-Leicester City game very important now. A contrived 0-0 draw. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@mariner4life Found it Liverpool were 4 points clear at Xmas

Hilarious article with hindsight - Liverpool looking ominous - who can stop them - best depth in league

Why Liverpool topping the Premier League at Christmas is so ominous for their rivals this season

Why Liverpool topping the Premier League at Christmas is so ominous for their rivals this season

Liverpool may be only four points clear at Christmas this year, but the way they've dealt with myriad injury issues should worry the chasing pack.

Article does say that only 3 times in 12 seasons had the team that was top at Xmas not won the league and that on all three occasions it was Liverpool. Make that 4/13 now. Not a record you'd want!

The whole season was skewed because of the late start so being top at Christmas was not the same as being top at halfway which it usually is.

This article from 22 Dec https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/12/22/premier-league-festive-season-table-liverpool-tottenham-man-united didn't even mention City. And this article https://www.givemesport.com/1631326-premier-league-supercomputer-has-predicted-the-final-league-table-based-on-christmas-standings has an outstanding "SUPERCOMPUTER" prediction.

@bayimports I think they assumed that form up to that point would continue afterwards!

Prediction is on the right hand side so they've actually picked them to finish ahead of arsenal

I think he would be perfect for City because he isn't just a goal hanger. They would be able to play off him and his passing is good enough to put players in.

So given that Champion's League qualification is worth so much cash and both Leicester and Chelsea have Liverpool breathing down their necks, is there a chance they will both play the FA Cup final with an eye to having their strongest side fresh for their EPL clash 3 days later?

    @kiwipie
Yeah, I think they have to. Liverpool look like favourites to finish top 4 if they can win out (which isn't a gimme, but all their games are winnable and none of their opponents have relegation or European implications), with Leicester better off with a draw.

I guess Chelsea also have the champions league to hope for. Would be a bitter pill to win FA cup but then lose top 4 and champions league final and be in Europa next year.

Gee. I know he was an offside but itโ€™s an inch. In terms of football I donโ€™t think we need that level of accuracy.

Stoked for Leicester all the same.

I think VAR needs to give some leniency to the attacker. Harry Kane got one disallowed last week because his toe might have been over the line

Me too. A couple of great saves from Schmeichel at the end.

I always like to see a team win a trophy for the first time. They had lost in the FA Cup final four times previously.
