Best day for a villa fan in a long time. Crazy defensive tactics from Klopp it must be said when we have Watkins, Barkley, Grealish and McGinn who love to push forward from midfield. The high line from Liverpool was a disaster today.

Fair play to Van Dijk for fronting the media straight afterwards. I respect that.

Liverpool were all over the show at the back.

The high line isn't the problem - allowing opposition midfielders time and space to pick a pass is the problem. Liverpool and City play in this way and it is the pressing of the players ahead that enables to defence to play suicidally high. If the press falls apart for whatever reason, you've got statues on the half way line and runners pouring through.

Only a few hours left in the transfer window if you are looking to Spain and France.

I haven't seen anything major being done yet, Telles to United is confirmed, haven't seen Cavani confirmed yet and Chris Smalling has gone to Roma.

@KiwiPie A lot of action as the deadline approached.

@Hooroo We've signed Thomas Partey which was one of Arteta's 2 main midfield targets. Hopefully he is the DM needed.

Is it now confirmed? I saw we triggered the release clause but I didn;'t think it had been sewn up,

    Great news

    @Hooroo

    Welcome to Arsenal, Thomas Partey!

    Welcome to Arsenal, Thomas Partey!

Powerful midfielder will join up with his new team-mates next week when he returns from international duty with Ghana

Ain't nothing like a Thomas Partey Party

Cavani now confirmed - reputedly 200K pounds per week. Which apparently is the same as Rashford and less than Martial. United apparently spend 500K per week just on their 2 goalkeepers. Maguire 189K per week which is a lot for what is basically a fridge rental.

The Cavani signing just reminds me of when they signed Falcao or when Chelsea signed Eto'o. I'd be shocked if Cavani managed to reach double figures for the season but good luck to him.

Yeah, looking at United on Sunday, I'm not sure they were missing a striker ...

Defence, temperament, a midfield that had the ability to hold the ball on the other hand.

@MajorRage Their fullbacks positioning were terrible all game with their midfielder refusing to track back a lot of the time. Maguire's copping a lot of the blame but tbh, everyone was terrible for Man U.

The big news out of Arsenal is that Gunnersaurus has been saved by none other than Mesut Ozil. A smart move from Mesut to endear himself to the fans.

as long as I will be an Arsenal player...

That's not much job security for the Gunnersaurus

In the end Fulham made 11 signings the same as last time we were promoted. The short turn around between winning the play-off and the season started made it tough but Parker (Khan) seems to have done OK in the loan market.

On paper they have strengthened but too many have little on no PL experience and we saw last time how big reputations in Europe (Seri) mean jack.

At least although we have no points other clubs have also been dropping games everywhere so we are not out of it yet despite being everyone's favourite to finish 20th.

The new players need to gel really quickly. Fortunately Parker's strength is building a team spirit. International window has come at a good time too.

@dogmeat I wasn't impressed by what I saw from Fulham against Leeds and Villa. They came back well against Leeds but are heavily reliant on Mitrovic and need to work on getting him better service instead of just whipping in crosses to him hoping that he'll get on the end of one.

Really generous for a man on 350K per week to donate ... about 0.15% of his salary to help out? At 31, no wonder Ozil doesn't want to leave.

@KiwiPie Still a nice gesture, even if a token effort, don't see anyone else reaching in..

He didn't have to do it, even if there might be strings attached and other motives. Kroenke has got more money than Ozil.

By the end of this month Ozil might not be one of 17 registered non-homegrown Arsenal players in their 25-man squad.

Actually sounds like it reflects badly on the owner. I mean how much does a mascot cost?
