@Chris-B You guys have more then enough stars, you guys are turning into the Manchester City of ITM Cup π
Eh?
Those feckers won feck all in 2019!
But, if you mean they've signed and developed a lot of young players (unwanted by their own associations) into a formidable team, then you're right!!!

in Conjuction with the Crusaders strong relationship between the Crusaders and their provinces within the Region.
-
@Chris Only to a pretty limited extent.
Here's the team that played last year's final.
Who would you attribute primarily to the strong Crusaders'relationship? Maybe Will Jordan. Taufua at a stretch, but he left for a few seasons at Counties and then came back.
I think the only guys in this team that didn't make their NZ first class debuts for Ta$man were Sione Havili and Mitch Hunt and Mitch is one of ours. There's a few others that came from Heartland rugby, I'm not sure if that's still regarded as 1st class rugby.

I would put Shannon Fizzell in that category he was going to be a Crusader and was placed at Ta$man to fit in the salary cap then it all went to shit when his agent pushed him to the Highlanders for more game time.
Will Jordan for sure Canterbury couldn't give him game time and the Crusaders wanted to get him game time.
Finlay Christie originally at Canterbury moved to Ta$man
There is a couple in the Ta$man Academy who were placed there to fit into the system The young First Five from Australia being one.
The Crusaders Academy set up in Ta$man has gone along way to developing the Ta$man players again Crusaders controlled.
So I believe the Crusaders have gone a long way into developing Ta$man.
-
@Chris I don't count Finlay Christie, at all. He was signed from ChCh club rugby with - as far as I know - zero indication he was on the Crusaders radar.
Frizell? Not aware of the ins and outs of his contract, but Ta$man signed him in 2016 and he went to the Highlanders in 2018, not via the Crusaders. He didn't play in this game in any case.
Yes - for sure - the Crusaders Academy has helped develop Ta$man players - in the same way they've helped develop Canterbury players.

-
@mariner4life That annual Deloitte's report should be out any day now!

In any case whatever makes the Crusaders strong and keeps them that way works for me .

I think that we should discuss the Ranfurly Shield.
You have won nothing until you have held that.
That would be the trophy for which Canterbury B bravely repelled North Otago's challenge 71-7 today?
Let's talk instead about which teams have been National Provincial Champions since Ta$man's formation in 2006?
Or the long succession of teams that have been too frit to give us a challenge!

Hm. Burley works. Even got the targeted species.
What is frit?
We could talk about the years before you had to merge two teams to make one good one. I am encouraging Australia to do that too.

Frit - a derogatory term for "frightened"!
It is admirable that someone is still fighting the guerilla fight of a lost battle!
I don't think AKL would be frit of taking you guys on at the moment. Unfortunately we don't have the shield, but might do at the end of the season...
Can't believe that I am saying this, but it is time that Ta$man had a crack at the shield. They could just buy it of course...
