@Bovidae This is only for the Heartland-Ranfurly Shield defence. Maybe the rest of the players will be added later? Or, indeed, injured.
Fergus Burke is injured, I am not sure of what the time frame for his recovery is.
Rueben Thorne did say in a podcast they would not select some SR players as well as Players selected in North v South game,but look at some other players for this game towards looking to fill some squad Places. -
@Stargazer said in Canterbury 2020:
@Chris By the way, it's good to see that Cullen Grace is already on that list. May as well chuck him into the "South" squad if he goes well this Friday.
Yeah great to see him recovered.
I hope he gets added to that South squad. -

For everyone, who doesn't want to go through a metre long list:
For everyone, who likes needless punctuation?

@shark Lock Will Tucker briefly trained with the highlanders but he's now signed with otago for the mitre 10
Thanks for that. He's another who's absence I was going to question.
I'm starting to wonder - tongue semi-firmly in cheek - if there's some kind of anti-Catholic sentiment at the CRFU?!
It's literally been years since anyone from Marist Albion had made a senior Canterbury squad, until yesterday, and pretty much every decent player to come out of St Bedes over the last few years has had to move elsewhere for opportunity...Alaimalo, Lentjes, the Tucker brothers, Elliot Dixon, Michael Leitch....can I claim Josh Navidi??

@shark Hugh Renton posted on his instagram that he's moving to Ta$man. He included a in his post, so I assume he'll play for the Mako, this year.
FFS @Chris-B does your chequebook have no boundaries?
-
@Nepia I hope we've signed him on a per games played basis!
We have shed quite a few All Blacks from our squad in the off-season - Crockett, Squire, Perry, Taufua (a would've been) - so we've doubtless freed up a bit of cash.
I'm looking forward to seeing who we're signing as new loosehead props!
Know of any good ones going spare?

He'll be bloody cheap, unless you're paying his medical insurance premiums.
TBH, he looked ok as he got a bit of gametime, which was when both the Canes and the Magpies dumped him, so I think he'd be a decent pick up for you guys.

@shark You could claim Jamayne Isaako as well or does playing league not count?
He went to Shirlay?
-
@African-Monkey good lad then.

By the way, thoughts on the new Canterbury jersey?
At first glance I thought they'd brought back the 1993 - 2002 (or so) jersey, which I disliked immensely at the time as it always evoked memories of losses to the likes of King Country, but now I look back on fondly as the jersey Canterbury wore not only during some dark times, but during the rebirth of the province as a national force.
Alas, this new jersey just has a graduating fade. And it looks shit.
Give me plain red (actually, scarlet officially) and black hoops, any day and all day thank you. No white bits, no yellow trim (what a horrific combination red, black and yellow is) and certainly no graduating fucking fade.
Hopefully the training tee or alternate jersey are worth a look.

@shark I don't think they were wearing a new jersey, last Friday. It looks like the jersey they usually wear during preseason games. The only thing that looks different is the white band with the sponsor's name.
Compare: first, a photo of last Friday's game; then the video of last year's preseason game against Ta$man.
