Canterbury 2020

I wasn't sure about S Barrett hence the big pile of locks in my squad. Wasn't up with the prop defections though. Who else was in or around the squad last year in terms of props?? Could be a little thin out wide again with Gilbert out and Ennor the regular centre. Hopefully McLeod plays 12 though (sharing time with Poihipi) and we only use outside backs in the outside backs. Still leaves Bridge, McKay, Mataele, both Punivais and Burke (at 15) who can be used there. Burke and N Punivai are more natural at 10 and 13, though.

It’s been mentioned in other threads that Isi Tu'ungafasi transferred from Northland to Canterbury.

You can find the 2019 Canterbury squad here: http://www.canterburyrugby.co.nz/newsarticle/80030?It looks like the props were:
Michael Alaalatoa (has returned to Manawatu)
Harry Allan
Oliver Jager
Daniel Lienert-Brown
Siate Tokolahi (has signed with Southland)
Owen Franks (has moved overseas)
Joe MoodyI haven't looked at props that weren't in the squad, but may have played, last season.

I meant other than the guys already listed, of course. Like in pre season games.

Players Selected in the North vs South fixture are unavailable for selection

The biggest news is two players have been selected from Marist Albion, for the first time in any kind of wider squad for God knows how long. OK, Mataele hasn't quite come up through the grades at M-A but presumably Mellow has. It'd be much funnier if Mellow was playing for New Brighton.

From the media release:

@Bovidae This is only for the Heartland-Ranfurly Shield defence. Maybe the rest of the players will be added later? Or, indeed, injured.
Fergus Burke is injured, I am not sure of what the time frame for his recovery is.
Rueben Thorne did say in a podcast they would not select some SR players as well as Players selected in North v South game, but look at some other players for this game towards looking to fill some squad Places. -

@Chris By the way, it's good to see that Cullen Grace is already on that list. May as well chuck him into the "South" squad if he goes well this Friday.
Yeah great to see him recovered.
I hope he gets added to that South squad.
