A breakout performance by 49ers rookie QB Brock Purdy. Time will tell if he can keep it going but gee he was impressive - even better than last week.
The way the offence is structured and with Shanahan calling the plays it is tailor made for a QB who is either not elite or young. Having said that he made some very nice plays that were above what I'd expect from Jimmy. It's not time to make predictions after one start. But the kid seems to have time and a good temperament

The Cardinals are woeful. Just terrible. What a ridiculous fumble from Hopkins. Carrying the same ball with one hand and losing it in a tackle. Not even stripped, just jolted out from contact.
But don't worry the HC and GM were extended this year so they are under contract until 2027.
Icing on the cake? Kyler Murray probably did an ACL which would mean that he's questionable to start next season.

@mariner4life get on my Eagles. Might have to break out my Randall Cunningham jersey, it could be our year.
Did anyone see former Saints man Arryn Siposs play? Pretty sweet one hand pick up and run. Then he got smashed. Gave a few fans a mouthful too.

The decision to sign Kyler Murray to a mega contract earlier this year doesn't look great - they are stuck with him for at least the next 2 seasons after this one.
Signing you QB to a huge contract despite obvious and already exploited flaws always goes bad.
Teams have fucked up thr QB market and they are now trapped.
Unless you have mahomes or Allen, don't fucking pay! -

Oh yeah Herbert is amazing. Pity about the rest of his team

Unless you have mahomes or Allen, don't fucking pay!Agree. Tom Brady has shown you can find decent QBs deep in the draft. Rodgers was passed over a lot too and I'm sure there are lots more I could name. There are lots of high drafted QBs who don't stay long in the league

one fo the problems of course is high drafted QB often wind up in dumpster fire organisations. Trevor Lawrence, for instance, or even RG3

Saturday games (NZ Sundays) are back on!
Colts hanging 33 on the Vikings in the first half. 33-0 at halftime. The worst 10-1 team we've ever seen? Shipping 50 last time around with the Cowboys, and now this? Insane.
Aged like milk! 36 all going into OT ... ridiculous comeback
-
The Vikings are the most absurd team I think I've ever seen.
They're 10-0 in one score games. Over the long run teams are generally a coin flip in one score games because this league is so competitive.
It's not even like they're a class above the league with a bunch of statement 2, 3 and 4 score wins. They only have one win by more than a score.
They're a total mirage, but the only question is when do they turn back into a pumpkin. Looking at the wild card contenders I think they'll probably get through and then get blown up in the divisional round.
(To be fair they're better than a pumpkin and are probably deserving of a division win, they're just not as good as their record suggests)

Burrow came out on top of Brady in the Bengals v Buccs game despite Brady throwing more yards. Game of two halves on the scoreboard with Bengals 31-6 in the final two quarters.
Good win for the Bengals as that completes a 6 game W streak and has them clear in AFC North as the Ravens slipped up this weekend.

It's so frustrating. Three pro bowlers on the defence (CJ Mosley, Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardener), DJ Reed an alternate with a strong claim (4th in yards allowed I think), Williams a dpoy contender, Sauce, looking like the second coming of Revis.
On the offence Garrett Wilson is a pro bowl alternate, probably going to get 1000 yards. When Corey Davis is fit he's one of the better WR2s in the league. A few more depth guys like Berrios and Mims who aren't studs but a fairly decent depth.
Offensive line has been wrecked by injuries and that's killed the running game, which is lethal for a team trying to run a shanahan scheme. Something like 4 guys at left tackle and 6 at right tackle. That's been a factor for Wilson but he hasn't been good enough from a clean pocket, so I suspect he would only be 'elevated' from generational bust to poor.
His contract makes him unlikely to be traded. The Jets aren't in cap hell but also aren't in a position to be spenders either. Trading him will cost more than keeping him. The most likely trade scenarios are either as part of a deal for another QB or if the Jets get a offer that's too good to refuse, The most likely scenario is that he goes to three on the depth behind Mike White and another vet and they spend a season rebuilding his mechanics. Another big factor will be how the draft plays out. If a top prospect falls to them they might pull the trigger at which point Zach will be gone. But they're looking to be mid round and in a draft without a strong QB group there's unlikely to be an option.
Want to go completely crazy? Call the Packers. The Jets offensive coordinator is the little brother of the Packers HC. The Packers HC is also the best mate of the Jets HC so maybe something happens. Incidentally, without that relationship, the OC is probably fired this year. It'll be a big test of Saleh as a coach, because some of the blame this year has to go an frankly awful play calling so if there wasn't the personal connection I'd be saying he's definitely gone.
