Julio Jones to the Titans. Oooh but they are gonna be fun to watch with two elite receivers and Henry running the ball
Jones is one of my favourite players in the league.
Did they give up anything to get him?
2nd round pick and something else that has yet to be announced (5th rounder, pick swap, something like that)
Atlanta moved a big salary.

What's next for ATL? Try to move Matty Ice?

A 2nd plus a little more feels a little steep for a guy who realistically only has a couple of seasons left in him and struggles to play full seasons.
But the Titans are a team with Superbowl ambitions and Jones is a major upgrade for them so it makes sense for them to pull the trigger now.
If Jones is fit for the playoffs and on the field for more than 10 games this is a pretty good trade for the Titans.
As mentioned, the falcons are deep in cap hell at the moment so they needed to do this or something similar. Matt Ryan is yet more proof that there is nothing worse for a franchise than a QB who is almost good enough to be a franchise qb.

Ryan needs to look left, look right and then either throw or hand to Henry. Going to be fun to watch.
Seeing the Titans beat the Pats at home and running the clock on Belichek is one of the all time fun playoff results. That, and Henry is just a monster, so physically dominant. Love it.

Got confused about which Ryan you were talking about at first! Yeah Tannehill will be pretty happy with this. I'm expecting Henry to regress slightly this year, but still be a Pro bowl calibre RB so this titans offence is going to be tough to stop.
AFC South is also a much weaker division than it looks. The jags are probably going to get growing pains from Lawrence and Etienne, the Texans would probably be better if you replaced their front office with a literal garbage fire and the colts aren't going to be easy beats but I think they're going to struggle to produce the offensive output they need to be consistent winners.
Titans should be aiming for home field advantage at least up to the AFC championship. Chiefs are probably the only team that I think are clearly stronger than them on paper. Steelers and Bills my favourites for the other divisions.

No injury luck for the Colts early on. Carson Wentz and their best offensive lineman Nelson both out 5-12 weeks with the same foot injury.
Meanwhile for the 49ers - the Trey Lance hype is hitting overdrive - by all accounts at practice he looks the real deal and he ain't gonna be sitting behind Jimmy G for very long, if at all.

I'd be happy to see him sit for a little while. It never harmed Mahomes or Rodgers

I would too but i'd also be happy to start him if it looks like he's ready - by all accounts he's a lot further along than people thought he would be.

Josh Allen gets a mega deal. Six years, 258m, 150m total guarantees, 100m guaranteed at signing. He is now QB2 by salary (behind Mahomes)
Cap hits stay reasonable for this year and next and then go 40m plus.
Allen is not than good a QB. The bills have two years to win a Superbowl before this contract starts to bite and they have to shed talent.

Watched Trey Lance play his first preseason game today.
Overall pretty much as expected. The physical talent is there - he popped with an 80 yard touchdown for his first completion.
As a top 3 pick at QB you want to see some wow plays. He delivered one.
A lot to work on but I don't think he's that far off as a starting option as the 49ers starters are a hell of a lot better than their backups - between no running game support, receivers dropping passes and the O line being a sieve he didn't get much help at all out there.

Ex British and Irish Lions Winger Christian Wade is still hoping to make the regular season roster of the Buffalo Bills:

Yeah it was pretty much everything that he could be and all the reasons why he might never be. 5/14 for 128 yards and a TD is a good debut. 4/13 for 40 yards not so great.
I don't think he'll see the field much this year and that will be good for him. He's played very little college ball so will really benefit from the development time to work out his rough edges.
Of the 5 qbs that went in round one it's looking like only Wilson and Lawrence will be day one starters. Jones and Fields will probably get starts during the season and I suspect Lance will too. I think Garroppolo is slightly below league average as QB so if the 49ers struggle (especially if their defence can't keep the offence in reasonably friendly situations) he'll look out of his depth and the pressure to start Lance will grow, especially if he has a solid preseason.

Also, even weirder than Rodgers wanting out, i saw a post that Tim Tebow will head to the Jags. As a tightend. Now, i reckon he should have pivoted to TW as soon as it became apparent he wasn't going to make it as a QB. Big guy, good feet. But that was 10 years ago! How come Kap can't get a gig again?
aaaaaand Tebow has been cut by the Jags.
Teams only have to cut down to 85 players this week. They have to cut down to 53 for the season.
So Tebow didn't make the 85. In other words - he didn't even get close.

Sideshow over. Meyer loves Tim so much, maybe Tebow said no mas after his preseason performance

@canefan it's also obvious they are using preseason as an opportunity to teach and coach him - they aren't making it easy on him - they are forcing him to hang in the pocket and read/throw - obviously they think he can handle it and that in the long run it will be good for his development. They aren't giving away packages that they will use Lance in during the regular season as initially a package/gadget QB on specific plays (QB runs, moving the pocket etc).
Whilst I understand the idea of easing Lance in, the reality is sooner or later he's going to have to start and he's only going to learn so much by standing on the sidelines/playing gadget plays

I'm happy to see him sit and hold the clipboard for a while. Like Brady and Rodgers
